Lourdes managed just one run and seven hits over two games on Wednesday afternoon as the Gray Wolves dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Northwestern Ohio 11-0 and 5-1 at Mercy Field.

In the opener, the Racers scored in six of the seven innings, and built a 6-0 lead after three on the way to the win. Lourdes tallied just four hits, two coming in the fifth inning, the only time the Gray Wolves had more than one runner on base in an inning.

Dallas Riggs (Prescott, Ariz./Paradise Valley H.S.) accounted for two of the four hits, including a double in the fourth. Carlos Baerga, Jr. went 3-for-3 with two runs scored for the Racers while Brett Akins drove home three runs.

Ryan Petrangelo went the distance for the win (3-2) on the hill, striking out four while walking two.Â
Phoenix Andrews (Canton, Ohio/Saint Thomas Aquinas H.S.) suffered the loss (1-1), allowing eight runs and 11 hits in 5.2 innings of work.

In game two Northwestern Ohio (27-12, 14-7 WHAC) took the lead in the third with a pair of runs, only to see Lourdes cut its deficit in half in the fourth.Â
Zak Laubscher (Twinsburg, Ohio/Twinsburg H.S.) singled to lead off the frame, moved to second on a passed ball, and third on a sacrifice bunt by
Garrett Jex (Bowling Green, Ohio/Bowling Green H.S.). Riggs drove Laubscher home with a groundout.

The Racers quickly answered in the top of the fifth adding three more insurance runs to secure the victory.

Alex Leach went 3-for-4 four Northwestern Ohio in the nightcap while DayFran Ortiz drove home three runs.

Kyle Thomas earned a complete game win (1-1), allowing just the one unearned run and three hits. He did not walk anyone and struck out four.Â
Adam Hoyos (Oro Valley, Ariz./Canyon Del Oro H.S.) suffered the loss (0-3), giving up three earned runs and seven hits in five innings.

Lourdes (8-29, 2-16) will take to the road for the final time in 2016 this weekend as the Gray Wolves play a four-game series at Cornerstone. First pitch for Friday's doubleheader is set for 4 p.m. at DeWitt Stadium in Grand Rapids, Mich.
