Lourdes returned to the road on Saturday afternoon, dropping a pair of games to Concordia (Mich.) 11-8 and 8-4 at Cardinal Field in Ann Arbor, Mich.
The Gray Wolves offense started strong, plating two runs in each of the first three innings of game one.
Erica Marvaso (Huron Township, Mich./Woodhaven H.S.) had a sacrifice fly in the first while
Olivia Stanton (Loveland, Ohio/Loveland H.S.) delivered a RBI single and
Jaime Newman (Edgerton, Ohio/Edgerton H.S.) singled home two in the second. A passed ball and an error brought home the third inning runs.
The Cardinals, though, plated four of their own in the first and added two more in the third to tie the game at six. A five-run fifth inning put Concordia ahead for good. Lourdes tried to rally in the sixth as Marvaso and Stanton both drove home runs, but the Gray Wolves would fall three runs short.
Cheyenne Brierley earned the win (7-2) in relief for Concordia while
Brook Gallaher (Oregon, Ohio/Clay H.S.) suffered the loss (3-10) in the circle for the Gray Wolves.
Game two was scoreless until the third when Newman singled home
Taylor Genzman (Saint Clair Shores, Mich./Lakeview H.S.) with the game's first run.
A four-run fifth inning put the Cardinals in front 4-1, but Lourdes responded with a pair of runs in the sixth as
Megan Mosiniak (Swanton, Ohio/Evergreen H.S.) hit a two-run home run.
Concordia (27-10, 8-4 WHAC) tallied four unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth to break the game back open, and Lourdes would manage just one more run in the top of the seventh on a Genzman single.
Jessica England went the distance in the circle for the Cardinals to earn the win (8-1) while
Marissa Kostick (Saint Charles, Mich./Saint Charles H.S.) suffered the loss (5-4), also in complete game fashion.
Lourdes (10-20, 1-9) will remain on the road on Sunday afternoon as the Gray Wolves head to Adrian, Mich. to battle Siena Heights. First pitch in game one of the doubleheader is set for 1 p.m. at Christensen Field.
