Lourdes dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Hillsdale on Tuesday evening at Pacesetter Park 8-0 and 12-2 in the final non-conference games of 2016 for the Gray Wolves.

Sarah Klopfer and Sarah Grunert combined on a two-hit shutout in the opener for Hillsdale, with Klopfer getting the win (13-5) after allowing just one hit through the first four innings, a two-out single in the fourth by
Olivia Stanton (Loveland, Ohio/Loveland H.S.). Grunert earned her first save of the year tossing the final three frames, yielding just a single to J
aime Newman (Edgerton, Ohio/Edgerton H.S.) in the sixth.

The Chargers took control of the game in the second, scoring five times, of which four of the runs were unearned, after taking advantage of two Lourdes errors, and a walk coupled with two hits. Hillsdale added a run in the third courtesy of two hit batsmen and a walk before adding two insurance tallies in the seventh.

Marissa Kostick (Saint Charles, Mich./Saint Charles H.S.) started and suffered the loss (4-5), allowing just three hits and six runs, only two of which were earned.

Hillsdale (26-10) pounded out 15 hits in game two, with four players tallying three each to complete the doubleheader sweep.

With the Chargers leading 3-0 in the bottom of the second,
Hayley Roberts (Brownstown, Mich./Woodhaven H.S.) accounted for all of Lourdes' offense on the night, hitting a two-run home run, her second of the season, which also scored
Erica Marvaso (Huron Township, Mich./Woodhaven H.S.).

Hillsdale immediately responded with three more runs in the third and two in the fourth before closing the game with four in the sixth.

Grunert earned the win (13-5) in the circle in game two, allowing two runs and four hits in four innings, while
Brooke Gallaher (Oregon, Ohio/Clay H.S.) suffered the loss (4-11), yielding eight runs, six of which were earned, and nine hits in four innings.

Lourdes (11-23) will close out the home portion of the 2016 regular season on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves host Cornerstone in a key Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference doubleheader. First pitch in game one is set for 5 p.m. at Pacesetter Park.
