Lourdes wrapped up the home portion of the 2016 regular season on Wednesday evening, defeating Cornerstone 5-4 in game one before falling to the Golden Eagles 8-1 in game two at Pacesetter Park.

The Golden Eagles jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third inning of game one, taking advantage of a pair of walks and three straight singles to score three two-out runs.

Marissa Kostick (Saint Charles, Mich./Saint Charles H.S.) went the distance for the win (6-6) in the circle, striking out four while allowing nine hits. Rachel Nelson took the loss (4-10), surrendering all five runs and six hits in five innings of work.

In game two Cornerstone (12-21, 5-9 WHAC) scored a pair of unearned runs in the first inning, added two more in the second and three more in the third to build a 7-0 lead. Â The Golden Eagles made it 8-0 with a run in the fourth as the Gray Wolves left seven runners on base through the first four frames.

Lourdes extended the game as
Olivia Stanton (Loveland, Ohio/Loveland H.S.) came through with a RBI single up the middle with one out in the fifth to score Newman with the Gray Wolves' lone run of the game.

Brooke Leonard earned the complete game win (5-7), scattering nine hits for the Golden Eagles.Â
Brooke Gallaher (Oregon, Ohio/Clay H.S.) took the loss (4-11), allowing six runs and seven hits in two innings.

Lourdes (12-24, 3-11) will take to the road on Friday afternoon as the Gray Wolves head to Grand Rapids, Mich. to battle 13
th-ranked Davenport. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 3:30 p.m. at the Farmers Insurance Complex.
