Upcoming in Gray Wolves Softball: Lourdes begins postseason play on Wednesday evening at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament. The Gray Wolves will face 13th-ranked Davenport before taking on either Siena Heights or Concordia (Mich.) in the winner's bracket or loser's bracket later that evening.
Head Coach Jo Ann Gordon: In her fourth season on the Lourdes bench,
Jo Ann Gordon has a 50-96 (.342) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves. In her 14th season overall as a head softball coach, Gordon has a 202-384 (.345) career mark. She is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Davenport is 9-0 all-time against Lourdes dating back to April 7, 2013. The Panthers swept a doubleheader in Grand Rapids, Mich. this season 3-2 in 8 innings and 5-4 on April 29. The Panthers are 4-0 against Lourdes at Pacesetter Park. Siena Heights is 6-4 all-time against Lourdes dating back to April 21, 2013 after the two teams split a doubleheader in Adrian, Mich. on April 24. The Saints won the opener 12-11 before the Gray Wolves won game two 10-4. The series is tied 2-2 at Pacesetter Park. Concordia (Mich.) holds a 7-3 series edge dating back to April 17, 2013. The Cardinals swept a twinbill in Ann Arbor, Mich. 11-8 and 8-4 on April 23. Concordia holds a 4-1 series edge at Pacesetter Park.
Wrapping Up Last Week: The Gray Wolves opened the week dropping both ends of a doubleheader against Hillsdale on Tuesday, 8-0 and 12-2. Lourdes split a twinbill in their home finale against Cornerstone on Wednesday, winning the opener 5-4 before falling 8-1 in game two. Friday, Lourdes played a pair of one-run games at #13 Davenport, falling 3-2 in eight innings and 5-4. The week concluded with a doubleheader sweep at Aquinas on Saturday, as Lourdes won 1-0 and 15-2. Â
Scouting Davenport: The Panthers head into the tournament having won four straight games after sweeping Lourdes on Saturday in a doubleheader. Lauren French is hitting a team-leading .368 while Alyssa Eastman has 12 home runs and 42 runs batted in for a team hitting .306. The Davenport pitching staff sports a 2.01 earned run average and opponents are batting .220 against them, led by Emily Maves and her 19-4 record and a 1.58 ERA.
Scouting Siena Heights: The Saints enter the tournament having dropped two straight games to Concordia (Mich.) last Saturday. Kelsie Abbott leads Siena Heights batting .421 with 46 runs batted in on the season while Megan Jones has hit six home runs. As a team the Saints are hitting .303 while the pitching staff sports a 3.46 earned run average. Lesley Ducat leads the staff with an 11-11 record and a 2.68 ERA.
Scouting Concordia (Mich.): The Cardinals enter the tournament having won four of their last five games overall after sweeping Siena Heights last Saturday. Amy Trionfi leads the Cardinals with a .387 batting average while Samantha Capuzzi is hitting .370 with six home runs and 35 runs batted in for a team hitting .312. The pitching staff carries a 3.28 ERA with opponents hitting .271 against them. Cheyenne Brierley leads the hurlers with a 9-3 record and 2.04 ERA.
All-Time in the WHAC Tournament: Lourdes is 2-6 in three appearances at the WHAC tournament. The Gray Wolves went 2-2 last season, falling to Davenport in the opener before defeating Concordia (Mich.) and Siena Heights. The tournament run came to an end with a 7-5 loss to Aquinas. Lourdes went 0-2 in 2013 and 2014.
Kostick Setting Pitching Marks: Marissa Kostick set a new school record with her seventh and eighth victories of the season last Saturday against Aquinas. She broke Casey Cherry's (2013) and
Brooke Gallaher's (2015) previous mark of seven wins in a season. Kostick's current 2.95 earned run average is also on pace to break the school mark of 3.67 set by both Lauren Marstin and Cherry in 2013.
Defensive Records: Megan Mosiniak has set a new single season school mark with 352 chances, shattering her own mark of 294 set in 2014. In addition, her 313 putouts better her own 2014 mark of 268.Â
Erica Marvaso has set a new assists mark with 105 this year, passing
Bre Megyesi's 2014 mark of 102. Â
More Records: Bre Megyesi has set a new mark with 146 at bats this season, breaking the old mark of 117 set by herself in 2014 and Chelsea Goebel in 2013. In addition, her 36 runs scored match
Alyssa Schaub's (2014 and 2015) single season mark.Â
Megan Mosiniak has set a new school hits record with 49 this season, while also shattering the doubles mark with 18. Schaub held the hits mark with 40 while Megyesi had the old doubles record with 11. Mosiniak has also tied Megyesi's home run mark for 2013 and her 35 runs batted in are one shy of Megyesi's mark set in 2014. Mosiniak, Megyesi, and
Erica Marvaso have played in all 40 games this year as well, tying the school record for games played in a season.
