Lourdes run in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament came to a close on Monday afternoon as the Gray Wolves fell in the championship to 13
th-ranked Davenport 6-1 at Pacesetter Park.

The Gray Wolves, the tournament's eighth seed, scored first just two batters into the bottom of the first inning.Â
Bre Megyesi (Whitehouse, Ohio/Anthony Wayne H.S.) led off with a triple to centerfield and
Jaime Newman (Edgerton, Ohio/Edgerton H.S.) lofted a sacrifice fly to left to put Lourdes on top 1-0.

A two-out double in the top of the second tied the game at one and the Panthers took the lead in the fourth as Alyssa Eastman drove home her second run of the game with a single. Lindsay Tasma tripled home a pair in the fifth to increase the Davenport lead to 4-1.

The Panthers scored two more insurance tallies in the seventh while Emily Maves limited Lourdes to just three hits in the game, singles by
Taylor Genzman (Saint Clair Shores, Mich./Lakeview H.S.) and Newman in the third in addition to the leadoff triple.

Maves struck out 11 and walked just two to earn the victory (22-4) in the circle while
Marissa Kostick (Saint Charles, Mich./Saint Charles H.S.) suffered the loss (10-9), surrendering 13 hits while striking out five over the seven innings.

Tasma went 4-for-4 with three runs batted in to pace Davenport (39-10).

Lourdes (18-28), by virtue of its tournament runner-up finish, has earned an automatic bid to the NAIA Softball National Championship. The Gray Wolves will begin opening round play next Monday, May 16, with the pairings and brackets being released on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. EDT.
