Lourdes found the back of the net twice on Saturday afternoon against a Davenport squad that had surrendered just one goal in eight matches this season, but the Panthers scored the match-winner midway through the second half to defeat the Gray Wolves 3-2 at Wildcat Stadium in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference opener for both sides.

"I was proud of the effort the girls showed today," head coach
Jackie Donovan said afterwards. "To put two goals up on a solid Davenport team shows that we're making good strides moving forward."

Â
Katherine Steiner tied the match at the 28:23 mark, taking a long ball from Lacey Chanady and scoring from inside of the 18, evening the score at one. Steiner again found the back of the net just 4:06 later, playing a touch from Nea-Stina Liljedahl inside of the six to give the Panthers a 2-1 lead, an advantage they would hold into intermission.
Â
O'Keefe scored her second goal of the match just 9:23 into the second stanza.Â
Tori Koontz (Chesterfield, Mich./L'anse Crevse North H.S.) played a ball from the top of the box down toward the goal post and O'Keefe snuck the ball past netminder Regan Troff.
Â
Davenport (8-0-1, 1-0 WHAC) scored the match-winner with 23:28 to play as Steiner took a shot inside the box that was saved by the Gray Wolves' defense, but Allison Luurtsema tapped home the rebound.
