A goal midway through overtime on Wednesday afternoon allowed Aquinas to defeat Lourdes 3-2 at Wildcat Stadium in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action.

Leeann Latsch started the ball up the middle, passed ahead to Mariah Otolski, who found Anya Pallas in alone, and scored the match-winner from 15 yards out 4:49 into the extra session allowing the Saints to earn the road victory.

"This was a tough result today," head coach Jackie Donovan said afterwards.  "I was pleased to see the girls make the necessary adjustments in the second half to keep pressing Aquinas.  We have faith in this group and will continue to work hard."

Lourdes played from both behind and ahead in the match at various times.  Aquinas scored first, as Morgan Halligan dribbled down the left side of the penalty area and scored far post just 8:49 into the contest.

The Gray Wolves tied the match with 12:39 remaining before halftime as Clare Ciarlino (Taylor, Mich./Truman H.S.) created a takeaway, beat a Saint defender, and lofted the ball over the head of goalkeeper Kylie Robb.  For Ciarlino, the goal was her team-leading sixth of the season.

The match was even at one at halftime despite Aquinas outshooting the Gray Wolves 8-3 over the opening 45 minutes and holding a 3-0 advantage in corner kick opportunities.

Kendyl Christian (Lenox Township, Mich./Anchor Bay H.S.) put Lourdes in front 2-1 with 15:22 remaining in regulation, scoring her first goal of the season after receiving a pass from Tori Koontz (Chesterfield, Mich./L'anse Crevse North H.S.).

The lead lasted less than five minutes though, as Pallas headed home a cross from Otolski, the first time on the day the two would connect, to tie the match and eventually force the extra session.

Aquinas (5-3-2, 1-1 WHAC) outshot Lourdes 20-6 for the match, including an 11-3 advantage on goal, but Kiley Transit (Royal Oak, Mich./Royal Oak H.S.) made eight saves to keep the Gray Wolves close.  The Saints also held a 5-1 edge in corners won for the match.

Lourdes (2-5-1, 0-2) will take to the road on Saturday afternoon to face Indiana Tech.  Kickoff is set for noon at Warrior Field in Fort Wayne, Ind.
