#20 Indiana Tech Defeats Lourdes 88-61

Despite a career-high 24 points from Molea Thompson (Mansfield, Ohio/Madison H.S.), 20th-ranked Indiana Tech proved too much for Lourdes on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Gray Wolves 88-61 at the Schaefer Center in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Thompson made four three-point field goals, and added five steals on the defensive end of the floor as part of her afternoon.  The junior scored 19 of her points in the first half, keeping the Gray Wolves within eight at the break.

Lourdes led most of the opening quarter before the Warriors scored the final five points of the period to take a 20-17 lead after 10 minute.  Indiana Tech extended the run to 11-0 to begin the second, stretching the lead to nine, while holding the Gray Wolves scoreless for more than three-and-a-half minutes to open the quarter.  After Lourdes was within seven, 30-23, midway through the stanza, the Warriors responded by pushing the lead to as many as 14 before settling for a 41-33 lead at the break.

The Gray Wolves were never able to keep the deficit in single digits the rest of the way as Indiana Tech opened the second half with a three-pointer and eventually went on a 17-4 run to break the game open with a 24-point lead.  Lourdes was unable to get any closer than 20 points in the final quarter.

Kalena Harris (Toledo, Ohio/Maumee H.S.) was the only other Gray Wolf to finish in double figures, scoring 12 points on the afternoon.  Lourdes shot 34.5% from the floor despite going 6-of-14 (42.9%) from three-point range.   The Gray Wolves were strong at the free throw line, connecting on 17-of-18 (94.4%) charity tosses.

Keanna Gary and Kendall Knapke both registered double-doubles for Indiana Tech (17-6, 12-4 WHAC) as the Warriors shot 50.8% from the floor.  Gary finished with 26 points and 11 rebounds while Knapke added 23 points, 12 rebounds, and five assists.  The Warriors finished with a 43-27 rebounding advantage for the game.

Lourdes (6-18, 4-12) will continue its three-game road trip on Wednesday evening when the Gray Wolves travel to Grand Rapids, Mich. to battle Cornerstone.  Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. inside of Mol Arena.
