Lourdes University earned three key points in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference standings on Tuesday afternoon, as the Gray Wolves defeated the University of Michigan-Dearborn 5-0 at Wildcat Stadium.

The five-goal output is the third highest in program history for the Gray Wolves, and most Lourdes has ever scored in a conference match.  The win also keeps the team's hopes alive to earn a berth in the WHAC tournament, which begins next week.

The Gray Wolves wasted little time jumping on the scoreboard, as Tara Blundell (Essexville, Mich./Garber H.S.) found Remy Houttekier (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Andover H.S.) down the left side.  Houttekier sent a blast into the net from 30 yards out for her seventh tally of the season, just 1:17 into the contest for the fastest goal to start a match in program history.

Houttekier returned the favor less than 15 minutes later, finding Blundell on a cross to the far post.  Blundell scored from inside the penalty area for her fourth goal of the season.

Clare Ciarlino (Taylor, Mich./Truman H.S.) made it 3-0 Gray Wolves just before halftime, collecting a punt from goalkeeper Kiley Transit (Royal Oak, Mich./Royal Oak H.S.) at the top of the penalty area and scoring with just 3:17 remaining in the half.  The assist to Transit was the first to a Lourdes goalkeeper in program history.

Ciarlino added her second goal of the match, and sixth of the season, just 5:59 out of the break, after Houttekier played a ball ahead from midfield.  Lourdes added one final goal with 17:40 remaining, as Courtney Knoerl (Farmington Hills, Mich./Farmington H.S.) received a pass inside the six from Helena Rammal (Grand Rapids, Mich./Catholic Central H.S.) for her first collegiate goal.  Rammal also gathered her first point of the season with the assist.

The five goals scored by Lourdes brought the team's season total to 28, setting a new single season mark for the Gray Wolves.  Lourdes outshot the Wolverines 22-6 for the match, including 11-3 on goal.

Transit made one first have save for the Gray Wolves while Kerstyn Williams (Taylor, Mich./Woodhaven H.S.) made two stops in the second half in the victory.  Jordan Anheuser made six saves for Michigan-Dearborn (0-11, 0-9 WHAC) in the loss.

Lourdes (7-7-2, 3-5-1) will close out the 2017 regular season on Saturday afternoon as the Gray Wolves host Concordia (Mich.) on Senior Day.  The Gray Wolves will look to clinch their first .500 season in program history with a win.  Kickoff is set for noon, with Senior Day activities taking place prior to the match.
