In a game which Lourdes trailed by five with six minutes remaining in the first half, the Gray Wolves closed the stanza on a 12-0 run and then pulled away in the second half, defeating Wright State-Lake 81-67 on Tuesday evening at the Auglaize-Mercer County YMCA in Celina, Ohio.

The Gray Wolves committed nine first half turnovers and made just 5-of-11 free throws as the Lakers hung around.  The lead changed hand five times in the opening 20 minutes and was tied on seven occasions before the late run allowed Lourdes to take a 36-29 lead into the locker room.

"True road wins are always tough to get, especially with such a young team," head coach Josh Gibson said after the contest.  "I thought we finished the first half strong and played much better in the second half overall."

After Lourdes scored the first two baskets of the second half to extend the advantage to double figures, Wayne State-Lake went on a 12-5 run, capped by a four-point play, to battle back within four, 45-41, with just over 16 minutes remaining.  With Lourdes leading by just eight, 51-43, at the 10:54 mark, the Gray Wolves went on an 11-2 run over the next four minutes, beginning with a dunk from Malik Thurman (Dayton, Ohio/Stebbins H.S.), to begin to pull away.  The Lakers were never able to cut their deficit to single digits the rest of the night.

Thurman led Lourdes with 17 points while Clif Snow (Middletown, Ohio/Middletown H.S.) added 13 more.  Bryce McComb (Swanton, Ohio/Swanton H.S.) came off the bench to pour in 11 points while McRay White (Cleveland, Ohio/Garfield Heights H.S.) pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds in a reserve role.  Lourdes held a 34-18 advantage in bench scoring on the night.

"Our bench really gave us a great lift today," Gibson added.  "I really though those guys were ready to play and came in and played a huge role in the victory."

Jordan Gorman led Wright State-Lake (1-3) with 25 points, making six three-pointers, while Quincy Green added 16 points and eight rebounds.

Lourdes (3-1) will return home to the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center on Saturday afternoon as the Gray Wolves host Carlow.  Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
