Lourdes finished the non-conference portion of its 2017-2018 schedule on Saturday afternoon, closing out the calendar year with a convincing 102-72 victory over Akron Wayne inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.

The Gray Wolves shot nearly 50% from the floor and 48.1% from three-point range, making 13 triples, on the way to surpassing the century mark for the first time since a 105-53 victory at Ohio State-Mansfield on Nov. 8, 2011.

"I was happy with how unselfish we were today and how we took care of the basketball offensively," head coach
Josh Gibson said following the game. "There are things that we need to look to clean up from this game though as we head back into conference play."

Deuce Martin (Lorain, Ohio/Clearview H.S.) scored a game-high 23 points, setting a new career high, connecting on all seven of his three-point attempts.

"Deuce had one of those career nights where everything seemed to fall for him," Gibson stated.

One day after five players finished in double figures in the win over Kent State-Tuscarawas, Lourdes had four players tally 10 or more points against Akron Wayne.Â
Darriontae Stewart (Cleveland, Ohio/Rhodes H.S.) poured in 15 points while
Bryce McComb (Swanton, Ohio/Swanton H.S.) added 12 more as the Gray Wolf bench tallied 53 total points.Â
Kadeim Jones (Dayton, Ohio/Marshall H.S.) added 10 points and five assists in the win.

Leading 18-16 nine minutes into the contest, Lourdes went on a 12-0 run to take control. The Warriors cut their deficit to eight, 30-22, with 5:49 to play before the Gray Wolves finished the half with another 17-4 spurt.

A 20-6 run early in the second half pushed the Lourdes advantage to 43, 79-36, with 12 minutes to play before Akron Wayne was able to chip into the Gray Wolf lead slightly down the stretch.

Tyrice Pace led Akron Wayne (2-14) with 16 points while Antoine Watson and Kylan Richburg each added 12 points.

Lourdes (7-9) returns to Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Wednesday evening, as the Gray Wolves host the University of Northwestern Ohio. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. inside the Ebeid Rec Center.
