Second-ranked Lourdes opened the 2017 season on Wednesday evening with a 21-3 victory over Cleary at the Legacy Center in Brighton, Mich.

The Gray Wolves scored seven times in the first quarter and added six more goals in the second, on the way to building a 13-1 lead at intermission. Lourdes added six more goals in the third on the way to the win.

Dalton Vowles (Toledo, Ohio/Saint John's H.S.) scored six times, all in the first half, and added a pair of assists for an eight-point game.Â
Jared Yoshino (Toledo, Ohio/Southview H.S.) added four more goals and had six helpers for 10 points in the win.

Tanner Jaramillo (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.) scored three times while
Collin Miller (Royal Oak, Mich./Shrine Catholic H.S.) and
D.J. Harris (Miamisburg, Ohio/Miamisburg H.S.) each added two goals in their collegiate debut. Harris also had two assists for a four-point night.

Brent Wethington (Beavercreek, Ohio/Beavercreek H.S.),
Drew Gilhooly (Livonia, Mich./Detroit Central Catholic H.S.),
Cory Campbell (Dayton, Ohio/Bellbrook H.S.), and
Austin Creske (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome H.S.) also found the back of the cage in the first game wearing a Lourdes uniform.

"This was a good first day," head coach
Patrick Yannarelli said afterwards. "The guys are beginning to come together as a team, and the coaches are excited for spring break and the potential of this team. We have a lot of work to do, but this team seems to be on the same page."

Lourdes had four goalkeepers in the game, with
Conner Mishler (Lambertville, Mich./Saint John's H.S.) earning the win after making three saves without surrendering a goal in the opening period.

The Gray Wolves tallied 43 shots in the game and collected 52 ground balls, led by five from
Casey Hilfinger (Whitehouse, Ohio/Anthony Wayne H.S.) and
Austin Berger (Monroe, Mich./Saint Mary Catholic Central H.S.).

Peter Nichols led Cleary (0-2) with two goals while Caleb McCurtis added another.

Lourdes (1-0) will continue its season-opening road trip on Monday evening as the Gray Wolves head to Hardeeville, S.C. to battle eighth-ranked SCAD-Savannah. The opening faceoff is set for 7 p.m. at the SCAD Athletic Complex.
