A goal with 48 seconds remaining in the second overtime period allowed sixth-ranked Columbia (S.C.) to defeat Lourdes 12-11 on Tuesday afternoon at Gyrene Field in Ave Maria, Fla. in the Gray Wolves' season opener.

Lourdes battled back after trailing 7-3 at halftime, including a 5-0 deficit to start the game. The Gray Wolves were still behind by four, 11-7, with under eight minutes to play when
Alyssa Long (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn H.S.) scored three times, including the game-tying tally with 3:41 to play, with
Tiara Reed (Maumee, Ohio/Anthony Wayne H.S.) added a goal during the late run.

After a scoreless first three-minute overtime period, Kendra Blackstock delivered the game-winner for the Koalas.

Long finished the game with seven goals, surpassing the 100-goal mark for her career. Reed added a pair of goals while
Shelby Kellar (Holland, Ohio/Saint Ursula H.S.) and
Anna Zofchak (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover H.S.) each found the back of the cage.

"Tiara played a strong game, scoring her first goals while doing a solid job with ground balls," head coach
Paul Sieben said.

Kiley Ketteman (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson H.S.) made 16 saves in goal for the Gray Wolves, while
Mary Tressel (Stow, Ohio/Stow-Munroe Falls H.S.) collected five ground balls.

Mary Tressel played an outstanding game defensively as well."

Devan Walter led Columbia (3-2) with four goals while Diamond Brown made 17 saves for the Koalas.

Lourdes (0-1) will return to Gyrene Field on Wednesday to battle host Ave Maria. The opening draw is set for 4 p.m.
