Played its second NAIA top-10 team in as many days, Lourdes suffered a 16-8 loss to sixth-ranked Ave Maria on Wednesday afternoon at Gyrene Field in Ave Maria, Fla.

The Gray Wolves fell behind 7-1 and trailed 8-3 at halftime.  The Gyrenes increased their lead to 13-4 before Lourdes outscored the hosts over the final 15 minutes of the game.

"I thought we played another solid second half," head coach
Paul Sieben said after the game.  "We had a slow start in the first just like yesterday though."

Tiara Reed (Maumee, Ohio/Anthony Wayne H.S.) scored three times while
Alyssa Long (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn H.S.) and
Shelby Kellar (Holland, Ohio/Saint Ursula H.S.) added two goals each.
Ashley Hunt (Cape May, N.J./Lower Cape May H.S.) added her first collegiate goal as well.

"We did a good job of spreading out the offense," Sieben added.

Kiley Ketteman (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson H.S.) made six saves in goal over the first 45 minutes while
Margaret Janiga (East Aurora, N.Y./Nichols H.S.) added two stops over the final 15 minutes.  Ketteman also led the team with four ground balls.

"Defensively, I thought
Christy Dazley (Genoa, Ohio/Genoa H.S.) stepped in today and played some great defense," Sieben concluded.

Katelyn Sherman led Ave Maria (3-1) with five goals and had an assist for a six-point game while Mackenzie Tourville also had a six-point game with three goals and three assists.

Lourdes (0-2) will wrap up its swing in Florida on Thursday, traveling to West Palm Beach, Fla. to face Keiser. The opening draw is set for 3 p.m. at Arrigo Vecellio Field.
