Lourdes won the opening set on the road at third-ranked Park on Wednesday evening, but the Pirates battled back to defeat the Gray Wolves 17-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-22 at the Breckon Sports Center in Parkville, Mo.

Lourdes, ranked sixth in NAIA, hit a blistering .500 in the opening set to take the early lead in the match, tallying 15 kills, but managed just an .083 hitting percentage in the second as the Pirates evened the match. In the third it was Park with 14 kills while hitting .444 and the Pirates added 14 more kills in the fourth to close out the match.

"We started the match off well," head coach
Greg Reitz said afterwards. "Our seving was strong and we were able to turn points in transition. We certainly cooled off as the match went on. Our serving declined and their's improved. That is a good team and we needed to play our best, but we didn't."

Colby Magorien (Agoura Hills, Calif./Westlake H.S.0 led Lourdes with 16 kills while
Evan Gebert (Fort Wayne, Ind./Snider H.S.) added 11 more.Â
Eric Ubior (Guaynabo, P.R./Wesleyan Academy) and
Ryan Maune (Washington, Mo./Saint Francis Borgia H.S.) added 10 kills each while hitting .500 and .421 respectively.Â

CJ Rilveria (Kula, Hawaii/Kekaulike H.S.) tallied 12 digs for the Gray Wolves.

Daniel Arteaga led Park (17-2) with 23 kills while hitting .326 while Oscar Tuero added 12 kills, swinging at a .435 clip.

Lourdes (13-6) will conclude its road trip on Thursday afternoon, facing top-ranked Grand View. First serve is set for 4 p.m. EST.
