Upcoming in Gray Wolves Softball: Lourdes begins a stretch with six doubleheaders over the next nine days, five of which are on the road.  The Gray Wolves travel to Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday and Michigan-Dearborn on Friday before entertaining Indiana Tech Saturday afternoon.

Head Coach Jo Ann Gordon: In her fifth season on the Lourdes bench, Jo Ann Gordon has a 61-115 (.347) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves.  In her 15th season overall as a head softball coach, Gordon has a 213-403 (.346) career mark.  She is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Northwestern Ohio holds a 6-2 series advantage over Lourdes dating back to April 5, 2014, with the Racers having won the last six contests.  Last year Northwestern Ohio swept a doubleheader at Pacesetter Park 13-10 and 8-1.  The Racers are 4-0 all-time against Lourdes in Lima, Ohio.  Lourdes holds a 5-4 series edge over Michigan-Dearborn dating back to April 3, 2013.  Last year the Wolverines swept a pair of games in Ann Arbor 12-4 and 10-9 before Lourdes responded with a 5-3 victory at home in the WHAC tournament.  Lourdes is 6-2 all-time against Indiana Tech dating back to April 23, 2013.  Last year the Warriors swept a twinbill from the Gray Wolves at Pacesetter Park though, winning 6-3 and 3-2 in 11 innings.  The series is tied 2-2 at Pacesetter Park.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes swept a doubleheader against Rochester (Mich.) on Tuesday at home, winning 10-2 and 1-0.  Taylor Tafelski and Erica Marvaso each had three hits in the opener while Marissa Kostick tossed a seven-hit shutout in game two.  Concordia (Mich.) scored a run in the top of the seventh in game one on Saturday to pull out a 4-3 victory.  Kayla Encalado had three hits for Lourdes.  In game two, Kostick threw a five-hit shutout and Lourdes defeated the Cardinals 3-0.  Madonna shutout Lourdes twice on Sunday, winning 8-0 and 1-0 in 10 innings despite Kostick's nine strikeouts.
 
Scouting Northwestern Ohio: The Racers have dropped eight straight games after being swept at Michigan-Dearborn 5-1 and 6-3 last Sunday.  Eleya Montroy leads Northwestern Ohio batting .407 while Macey Harder has four home runs, 31 runs batted in, and is hitting .375.  As a team the Racers are hitting .336.  Heather Sanderson leads the pitching staff with a 12-7 record and a 2.68 earned run average while the Racers' staff overall sports a 3.78 ERA.

Scouting Michigan-Dearborn: The Wolverines have won seven straight games entering the week, and host Cornerstone on Wednesday before hosting Lourdes.  Kassidy Butler is hitting .516 with seven home runs and 29 runs batted in to pace Michigan-Dearborn, which is batting .318 as a team.  Gina Verduzco leads the pitching staff with a 9-3 record and a 2.03 ERA.  As a staff the Wolverines sport a 3.39 earned run average.

Scouting Indiana Tech: The Warriors have dropped 15 straight contests after being swept at Cleary 1-0 and 11-3 on Sunday afternoon.  Brianna Glass leads Indiana Tech batting .333 while Hannah Foltz has four home runs and 18 runs batted in.  As a team the Warriors are hitting .241 while the pitching staff sports a 6.16 earned run average.  Jamie Conrad leads the hurlers with a 1-1 record and a 3.55 ERA.

Schedule Update: The doubleheader against Cornerstone that was postponed on March 31 has been rescheduled for Thursday, April 27 beginning at 3:30 p.m.  The twinbill at Aquinas slated for April 5 has been rescheduled for Wednesday, April 26 beginning at 3:30 p.m.

Kostick Named Pitcher of the Week: Marissa Kostick was named the WHAC Pitcher of the Week for the first time in her career on Monday.  She went 2-1 with a 0.29 earned run average, allowing just one run in 24 innings in the circle.  She scattered 20 hits on the week and lowered her season ERA to 4.40.

Kostick Also Swinging the Bat: Marissa Kostick also helped her own cause at the plate last week, batting .467 (7-for-15).  She had a double and three runs batted in while also contributing a sacrifice fly and a sacrifice bunt.

Extending Her Hitting Streak: Kelsey Beck has extended her hitting streak to eight straight games dating back to March 11 against Hannibal-LaGrange.  During the streak she is batting .545 (12-for-22) with four multi-hit contests.  The freshman has walked five times, sports a .630 on base percentage and an .864 slugging percentage, and has five runs batted in during the span.

Multi-hit Games: Taylor Genzman had two more two-hit games last weekend and now leads the team with nine multi-hit contests through 22 games this season.  The Gray Wolves' leading hitter at .425 has four three-hit games during the year.

A Long One: Lourdes' 10-inning game against Madonna was the second longest contest in program history.  The Gray Wolves dropped an 11-inning affair at home against Indiana Tech on April 16, 2016 in the only other game that has extended beyond nine innings.  All-time Lourdes is now 2-9 in extra inning contests.

This and That: Kayla Encalado now has four multi-RBI games after driving home two in game one against Rochester (Mich.) ... Lourdes' leadoff hitters are reaching base 39.7% for the time ... Meghan Birr is 7-for-7 in stolen base opportunities.
