Lourdes wrapped up the home portion of the 2017 season on Friday afternoon, falling to third-ranked Lawrence Tech 17-5 at Wildcat Stadium.
The Blue Devils started quickly, scoring four times in the first 10:10 of the contest before
Tiara Reed (Maumee, Ohio/Anthony Wayne H.S.) put the Gray Wolves on the scoreboard.
Lawrence Tech built an 11-1 lead at the half, scoring the final seven goals of the stanza before adding two more to begin the second half.
Anna Marie Weber (North Canton, Ohio/Jackson H.S.) stopped the Blue Devils' run at nine with a goal at the 22:13 mark of the second half before
Anna Zofchak (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover H.S.) and
Alyssa Long (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn H.S.) added goals to pull Lourdes back within nine, 13-4.
"We played a much stronger second half after a slow start to the game," head coach
Paul Sieben said afterwards.
The visitors scored four of the final five goals in the second half though, with just a second tally by Long interrupting the run.
Kadijah Kalo scored five times and Ashley Collins added four more goals for Lawrence Tech (15-1, 12-1 WHAC) as the Blue Devils outshot the Gray Wolves 29-18 for the game. Lawrence Tech also held a 14-10 advantage in draw controls and a 15-12 edge in ground balls.
Kiley Ketteman (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson H.S.) made seven saves for Lourdes in goal while Mary Klonowski made eight stops for the Blue Devils. Zofchak led the Gray Wolves with three ground balls and three draw controls.
Lourdes (5-10, 4-8) will close out the regular season on Saturday with a rematch against Lawrence Tech in Southfield, Mich. The opening draw is set for 1 p.m. at the LTU Athletic Complex.
"We look forward to starting the game tomorrow the way we finished today," Sieben concluded.
