Aquinas scored eight times in the opening inning and never let up on Sunday, completing a three-game weekend sweep of Lourdes with a 16-0 victory over the Gray Wolves at Kimble Stadium.

The Saints sent 12 batters to the plate and registered eight hits in their first at bat to build the early lead. A home run to lead off the second inning increased the lead to 9-0.

The hosts added four more runs in the fourth inning and tacked on three more in the fifth to close out the victory. Aquinas tallied 18 hits on the day.

Lourdes had its chances in the first two innings, stranding runners on second and third base in both frames.

Jonathan Barker (Sylvania, Ohio/Southview H.S.) and
Devin Stanley (Euclid, Ohio/Saint Edward H.S.) each had two hits for the Gray Wolves as Lourdes managed just six total for the day.

Todd Krolewski and Jacob Holt each had three hits for Aquinas (23-21, 12-14 WHAC) while Brenden Johnson drove home three runs.

Bradley Buurstra earned the win (3-4), tossing six shutout innings while striking out six.Â
Kolby Rogge (Toledo, Ohio/Springfield H.S.) suffered the loss (2-7), working just the opening frame.

Lourdes (8-31, 4-23) will return home on Wednesday for a non-conference doubleheader against Taylor. The first pitch in game one is set for 3 p.m.
