Lourdes closed out the road portion of its 2017 schedule on Tuesday afternoon, dropping both ends of a doubleheader to Aquinas, 9-0 and 3-2, at the Gainey Athletic Complex in Grand Rapids, Mich.

The Gray Wolves were limited to just one hit in the opener by Marisa Loya, a lead-off single in the third by
Taylor Tafelski (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg H.S.). Loya walked just one other Lourdes hitter while earning the complete game shutout (11-3).

Aquinas scored four times in the opening inning and added two more in the second on a home run by Ann Hardin. Three more runs by the Saints in the fourth extended the lead to 9-0.

Ellie Adams drove four runs for the Saints in the opener while Hardin had three of Aquinas' 11 hits.

Brooke Gallaher (Oregon, Ohio/Clay H.S.) suffered the loss (3-10), allowing four runs and four hits in just one-third of an inning.

Lourdes took the lead in the opening inning of game two as
Meghan Birr (Muskegon, Mich./Mona Shores H.S.) led off with a single, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt, and scored on a throwing error.Â

Paige Churchfield (Saginaw, Mich./Swan Valley H.S.) increased the lead to 2-0 in the second with her team-leading third home run of the season.

Aquinas (33-10-1, 11-7 WHAC) cut the lead in half in the bottom of the second before two walks, a hit batter, and an error produced a pair of unearned in the third as Aquinas took the lead.

The Gray Wolves were unable to tie the game late, leaving runners on second and third in the seventh.

Lindsay George (Wayne, Ohio/Elmwood H.S.) had two hits for the Gray Wolves in game two, as Lourdes outhit Aquinas 7-4 for the game.

Mandy Rosol went the distance in the circle for the win (12-6), allowing just one earned run while striking out four.Â
Marissa Kostick (Saint Charles, Mich./Saint Charles H.S.) suffered the loss (5-9), giving up just four hits and one earned run in six innings, but walking five.

Lourdes (11-27, 3-15) will close out WHAC play on Wednesday afternoon, hosting Cornerstone at Pacesetter Park. First pitch in game one of the doubleheader is set for 3:30 p.m.
