Lourdes Cruises to 14-4 Win over Concordia

Photo Gallery

Lourdes scored the first 11 goals of the game on Saturday evening as the Gray Wolves rolled to a 14-4 victory over Concordia (Mich.) at Wildcat Stadium.

"Our team played well on offense and defense tonight," head coach Paul Sieben said afterwards.  "We were in control from start to finish, and were able to give our players the opportunity to play different positions.  It was nice for all of our attack players to score goals."

After neither team could find the back of the cage for the first 10 minutes, Alyssa Long (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn H.S.) broke through with a goal from the free position at the 19:16 mark.  Long would be the first of eight different Gray Wolves to score goals on the night.

Concordia (3-8, 2-8 WHAC) finally found the back of the net as time expired in the first half, with Lourdes holding an 11-1 lead.

Long and Mary Tressel (Stow, Ohio/Stow-Munroe Falls H.S.) scored to open the second half, helping the Gray Wolves snap a two-game losing streak.

Long finished with four goals while Tiara Reed (Maumee, Ohio/Anthony Wayne H.S.), Anna Marie Weber (North Canton, Ohio/Jackson H.S.), and Ashley Hunt (Cape May, N.J./Lower Cape May H.S.) each added two goals.  Shelby Kellar (Holland, Ohio/Saint Ursula H.S.), Anna Zofchak (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover H.S.), and Christy Dazley (Genoa, Ohio/Genoa H.S.) each added goals, with Dazley's tally being the first of her career.

Abbey Turner scored twice for Concordia, as the Cardinals were outshot 26-18 for the night.

Kiley Ketteman (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson H.S.) made nine saves in goal for the Gray Wolves while Tressel won five draws.

Lourdes (3-7, 2-5) will remain home on Wednesday afternoon as the Gray Wolves host Indiana Tech.  The opening draw is set for 4 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium.
