Indiana Tech scored a pair of second half goals and added the match-winner in double-overtime to rally from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Lourdes 3-2 on Saturday afternoon at Wildcat Stadium.
Â
Lourdes took the early lead less than 15 minutes into the match as
Tori Koontz (Chesterfield, Mich./L'anse Crevse North H.S.) chipped a restart over the Warrior defense where
Tara Blundell (Essexville, Mich./Garber H.S.) collected the ball in the penalty area and beat goalkeeper Christina Wynn to put the Gray Wolves in front 1-0.
Â
The match stayed 1-0 into intermission before the Gray Wolves doubled their lead just 2:48 out of the break. Koontz again started the play, sending it up the right side where
Karlie O'Keefe (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.) received the feed and found the back of the net.
Â
Indiana Tech (6-4, 3-0 WHAC) found the scoreboard for the first time with 30:03 remaining and Tori Singstock slotted a ball across the box into the six where Kayla Saffran scored to pull the Warriors within one, 2-1. With 10:19 remaining, Indiana Tech tied the contest as Marina Steffke sent a long cross from the left into the box where Lily Rothert got a head on the ball and converted.
Â
The match remained deadlocked for the remainder of regulation and the first overtime, before Indiana Tech was fouled in the penalty area and Singstock converted a penalty kick with 3:33 remaining to give the Warriors the victory.
