Lourdes opened Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Wednesday evening, suffering a 25-11, 25-18, 25-19 setback to Siena Heights inside the SHU Fieldhouse in Adrian, Mich.

The Saints limited the Gray Wolves to just .044 hitting on the night, as Lourdes committed 24 attack errors in the three sets, 10 coming via Siena Heights blocks.

"We didn't play well enough to win that match, and Siena Heights played very well," head coach
Greg Reitz said after the match. "We need to get back to work to try to figure things out before our next match."

Siena Heights closed the opening set on a 13-2 run to take the early lead in the match. With Lourdes leading 11-7 in the second, the Saints responded with an 8-1 run to take the lead for good. An 8-3 run in the third put the hosts in front 18-13 before the Gray Wolves battled back to within two, 21-19, late. Siena Heights scored the final four points of the match to complete the sweep.

Chelsea Lawrence (Palmdale, Calif./Highland H.S.) led Lourdes with nine kills.Â
Angelica Dippold (Louisville, Ky./Mercy Academy) recorded a match-high 16 digs while
Shannon Fischer (Toledo, Ohio/Notre Dame Academy) added 10 digs for the Gray Wolves.

Libby Breton led Siena Heights (9-1, 1-0 WHAC) with eight kills as the Saints hit .248 for the match with 39 kills. Gabrielle Kalugar matched Dippold's 16 digs with 16 of her own in the win.

Lourdes (6-4, 0-1) will step out of conference play on Saturday afternoon as the Gray Wolves travel to Mishawaka, Ind. to battle Bethel (Ind.). First serve is set for 3 p.m. inside of Goodman Gymnasium.
