Lourdes won its third consecutive match on Wednesday evening and moved over the .500 mark for the first time in 2018 with a 25-19, 25-16, 25-16 victory over Lawrence Tech inside of Ridler Fieldhouse in Southfield, Mich.
 
The ninth-ranked Gray Wolves move to 7-0 all-time against the Blue Devils, having never dropped a set in program history to Lawrence Tech.
 
"This was a solid win," head coach Greg Reitz said after the match.  "We served and passed very well.  Our offense took a little time to get going, but we finished at a very high level.  Our defense allowed us several extra opportunities to take swings."
 
Trailing 5-4 in the opening set, the Gray Wolves took advantage of three errors by the Blue Devils and the service of Matheus Andrade (Coronel Fabriciano, Brazil/Alberto Giovannini H.S.) to score six straight points to take the lead for good.  Another 9-2 run followed for Lourdes on the way to the opening set victory.
 
Lourdes limited Lawrence Tech to .000 hitting in the second stanza, but hit just .154 in the victory.  A 9-4 run late in the set allowed the Gray Wolves to pull away and take a 2-0 lead in the match.
 
The Gray Wolves hit .520 in the third with just two attack errors and 15 kills on the way to the sweep.  Lourdes never trailed in the set and used an 11-2 run to take a 22-11 advantage.
 
Evan Gebert (Fort Wayne, Ind./Snider H.S.) led Lourdes with 15 kills as the Gray Wolves hit .282 on the night.  Ian Fields (Phoenix, Ariz./Sandra Day O'Connor H.S.) handed out 30 assists, had nine digs, and four blocks along with a pair of aces.
 
Eric Ubior (Guaynabo, P.R./Wesleyan Academy) tallied a match-high 14 digs while Andrade added 10 more as Lourdes held a 45-23 advantage in that statistical category.  The Gray Wolves also limited Lawrence Tech to just .059 hitting for the match.
 
Alejandro Gonzalez led Lawrence Tech (1-8) with 11 kills while Joshua Ecker had eight digs.
 
Lourdes (5-4) will have eight days off before returning to action on Thursday, Feb. 8, when the Gray Wolves travel to Cincinnati, Ohio to face Cincinnati Christian.  The opening serve is set for 8 p.m. inside of Presidents Hall.
