Lourdes Battles Madonna to Scoreless Draw

For 110 minutes, neither team could score a goal on a cold Tuesday afternoon at the Madonna Athletic Complex in Livonia, Mich. as Lourdes and Madonna battled to a scoreless draw.

Kiley Transit (Royal Oak, Mich./Royal Oak H.S.) tied her own school record, making 16 saves in the match, on her way to her fourth shutout of the season and fifth career clean sheet.

Transit also made 16 saves against Northwestern Ohio in both 2016 and 2017.

Madonna (11-2-2, 6-0-2 WHAC) outshot the Gray Wolves 26-6 on the afternoon, including 4-0 in the second overtime period, but Transit made three stops in the final 10 minutes.

Julia Stewart made three saves in the shutout for the Crusaders, including two in the first extra session.  Karlie O'Keefe (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.) had two of Lourdes three shots on goal while Helena Rammal (Grand Rapids, Mich./Catholic Central H.S.) had the other.

The match marked the third 0-0 deadlock in Lourdes' program history, and first since a scoreless draw at Saint Xavier on Sept. 9, 2017.

Lourdes (4-8-2, 1-6-1) closes out the road portion of its 2018 season on Saturday afternoon, heading to Southfield, Mich. to battle Lawrence Tech.  Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. at the LTU Athletic Field.
