Lourdes extended its winning streak to eight straight matches on Wednesday evening, as the Gray Wolves swept Lawrence Tech 25-19, 25-12, 25-21 inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
 
"We passed well tonight which allowed our offense to be diverse," head coach Greg Reitz said after the match.  "We distributed the ball evenly across our hitters and made some strong defensive plays."
 
Evan Gebert (Fort Wayne, Ind./Snider H.S.) tallied 15 kills and hit .500 while Henrique Gehrke (Blumenau, Brazil/Escola Barao Do Rio Branco) handed out 32 assists for a Gray Wolf team that swung at a .309 clip on the evening.
 
Lourdes jumped out to a quick 6-1 start and never trailed in the opening set.  The Gray Wolves pushed the lead to eight, 17-9.  Lawrence Tech made a slight run to pull within four, 21-17, but that was as close as the Blue Devils would get the remainder of the set.
 
The Gray Wolves led wire-to-wire in the second as well, scoring the first six points of the set.  Lourdes hit .500 in the stanza while limiting Lawrence Tech to just five total kills.  Only once in the set did the Blue Devils score consecutive points.  Lourdes added another 8-1 run later in the set to pull away.
 
The third set had 10 ties and the only three lead changes of the match.  Lourdes took the lead for good 14-13 and secured the sweep for the eighth time in eight all-time matches against Lawrence Tech.
 
Jeff Lam (Richmond, B.C./Hugh McRoberts H.S.) had nine kills and Matheus Andrade (Coronel Fabriciano, Brazil/Alberto Giovannini H.S.) added eight more for the Gray Wolves, which had a 39-27 advantage in kills for the match.
 
Defensively, Eric Ubior (Guaynabo, P.R./Wesleyan Academy) tallied a match-high 15 digs while Brendan Brown (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny H.S.) recorded five blocks.
 
Jacob Weber led Lawrence Tech (1-11) with nine kills and hit .500 while Joshua Eckert posted nine digs.
 
Lourdes (10-4) will have more than a week off before hosting the Gray Wolf Invitational inside the Ebeid Rec Center Feb. 23-24.  The Gray Wolves face UC Merced at 12:30 p.m. and Cardinal Stritch at 8 p.m. on the opening day of action.
