Â
The 23 goals set a new program record for goals in a game, surpassing the 22 goals posted in the season opener at Cleary on Feb. 4.
Â
"I'm really proud of the little things the ladies did today on the field that we have been working on a lot at practice," head coach
Alyssa Shaver said after the game. "A lot of our attackers really stepped up today and our defense showed a lot of hustle."
Â
Eight different Gray Wolves scored, with
Katherine Garver (Maumee, Ohio/Notre Dame H.S.),
Alyssa Long (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn H.S.), and
Shelby Kellar (Holland, Ohio/Saint Ursula H.S.) scoring four times each.Â
Â
The Gray Wolves took a 2-0 lead less than three minutes into the contest on goals by Kellar and Long. After the Pilots cut the lead in half,
Tiara Reed (Maumee, Ohio/Anthony Wayne H.S.) scored the first of her two goals, jump-starting the 16 unanswered goal outburst.
Â
Lourdes built a 14-1 lead at halftime and continued to add to the advantage throughout the second half. The Gray Wolves finished with a 32-4 shot advantage, including a 28-4 edge on goal.
Â
Hannah Cullis (Fort Worth, Texas/Central H.S.) and
Anna Zofchak (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover H.S.) each added three goals while
Ashley Hunt (Cape May, N.J./Lower Cape May H.S.) also scored twice. Junior
Brandy Lowery (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg H.S.) scored her first collegiate goal as well.
Â
Garver added three assists for a seven-point game while Long had a pair of helpers on her six-point night.
Â
Zofchak had a team-high four ground balls while Cullis had five draw controls as Lourdes held an 18-9 edge in ground balls and a 21-7 advantage in draws on the night.
Â
Rachel Bates led Bethel (0-1) with a pair of goals.
