Lourdes built a 12-2 lead midway through the second half before withstanding a late run from Notre Dame (Ohio) and defeated the Falcons 13-9 at Normandy Field in South Euclid, Ohio.

"The team stepped up towards the end and pushed through to pull out the win," head coach
Alyssa Shaver said after the game.

Alyssa Long (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn H.S.) scored three times in the first half as Lourdes built a 6-2 advantage at the break, holding a 15-6 shot advantage.

The lead grew to 10, 12-2, with 19:28 to play as Long scored the first three goals of the second half,
Hannah Cullis (Fort Worth, Texas/Central H.S.) found the back of the net, and
Ashley Hunt (Cape May, N.J./Lower Cape May H.S.) added a pair of goals.

Notre Dame (2-4) scored seven times in the next 13 minutes, with just a goal by Cullis breaking up the run, and pulled within four with 5:25 to play, but neither team would find the back of the net again the rest of the game.

Cullis finished with three goals while
Tiara Reed (Maumee, Ohio/Anthony Wayne H.S.) added two more for Lourdes in the victory. Long also had three assists for a nine-point game while
Katherine Garver (Maumee, Ohio/Notre Dame Academy) and
Anna Zofchak (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover H.S.) each added a helper.

Lourdes finished with a 26-18 shot advantage for the game, including a 15-13 edge on goal.Â
Kiley Ketteman (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson H.S.) made four saves for the Gray Wolves.

Long had a team-high five draw controls while Reed picked up five ground balls to lead Lourdes. Reed also forced four turnovers in the game.

Lourdes (4-2) returns home to Wildcat Stadium on Tuesday evening, to host Heidelberg. The game is set to begin at 7 p.m., after being moved from its originally scheduled Wednesday afternoon time slot.
