Scouting Saint Francis (Ill.): The Saints snapped a two-game losing skid with an 8-7 victory over Dickinson State last Saturday to close out their swing in Arizona. Saint Francis is batting .359 as a team, led by Kayla Garcia's .484 average and 12 runs batted in. The pitching staff sports a 3.32 earned run average and opponents are batting .299 against them. Morghan Dieringer leads the way with a 1.83 ERA and a 5-2 record, striking out 55 hitters in 42 innings of work.
Lourdes In Home Openers: Lourdes is 1-4 all-time in its home openers. The Gray Wolves defeated Northwestern Ohio 2-1 to begin the 2014 home slate for the only victory in such a game. Last year, the Gray Wolves dropped their home opener 5-4 in eight innings against Lawrence Tech.
Record-Setting Streak: Lourdes' six-game winning streak which started with a victory over Trinity International and was ended with the 2-1 loss to Marian was the longest winning streak in program history. Previously, the longest stretch of wins for the Gray Wolves had been four consecutive games, a feat which had occurred three times, most recently May 5-6, 2016.
