Upcoming in Gray Wolves Softball: Lourdes will open its sixth season of intercollegiate softball on Sunday, beginning a 12-game trip to the Sunshine State.  The Gray Wolves will face Judson and Bellevue on opening day.

Head Coach Jo Ann Gordon: In her sixth season on the Lourdes bench, Jo Ann Gordon has a 68-128 (.347) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves.  In her 16th season overall as a head softball coach, Gordon has a 220-416 (.346) career mark.  She is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.

Series Notes: Lourdes is meeting Judson and Calumet for the first time ever on the diamond.  The Gray Wolves are 1-1 against Bellevue dating back to March 5, 2013.  Last year the Bruins won 13-1.  Lourdes is 0-1 versus Trinity Christian, falling 7-5 on March 9, 2017.  The Gray Wolves are 2-4 against Spring Arbor dating back to March 8, 2013.  Lourdes won last year's meeting against the Cougars 5-2.  The Gray Wolves are 2-0 versus Trinity International in a series that began March 11, 2014.  They last met in 2016, a 4-1 Lourdes victory.

Wrapping Up Last Season: Lourdes finished 2017 with a 14-28 record overall and a 5-15 mark in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference, placing ninth.  The Gray Wolves failed to qualify for the WHAC tournament.  Kelsey Beck earned Second Team All-WHAC honors.

Scouting Judson: The Eagles snapped a four-game losing skid with a 6-3 victory over Mount Mercy on Feb. 25.  Judson plays three games prior to facing Lourdes.  Sarah Friedlund leads Judson batting .500 with five runs batted in.

Scouting Bellevue: The Bruins had their four-game winning streak snapped on Feb. 24 with a 7-2 setback at Presentation.  Bellevue faces South Carolina-Beaufort Sunday morning before playing Lourdes. Erin Shape leads the team hitting .591 with four home runs and nine RBI.

Scouting Trinity Christian: The Trolls dropped games to Culver-Stockton and Lindenwood-Belleville on Feb. 20 to open the season and play twice Saturday before facing the Gray Wolves.  Trinity Christian is hitting just .189 as a team thus far.

Scouting Calumet: The Crimson Wave dropped both games of a doubleheader to Campbellsville on Feb. 18 and play six times before facing Lourdes.  Celeste Robles is hitting .500 with a RBI for Calumet.

Scouting Spring Arbor: The Cougars open their season Friday with a doubleheader against Southeastern and play six times before facing the Gray Wolves.  Last year Spring Arbor posted a 19-36 record overall.

Scouting Trinity International: The Trojans open their season on Friday, the first of seven games before facing Lourdes.  Last year Trinity International finished the year 14-25 overall.

Lourdes In Season Openers: Lourdes is 2-3 all-time in its season openers.  The Gray Wolves defeated Ave Maria 14-2 to open the 2014 season and began 2017 with a 4-3 upset of second-ranked Saint Xavier.  The Gray Wolves have fallen to Clarke 7-6 in nine innings (2013), Albion 8-6 (2015), and Lake Erie 15-7 (2016).

Experience in the Circle: Lourdes has three hurlers back from last season that all rank among the best in program history.  Brooke Gallaher and Marissa Kostick both share the school's wins mark with 16 while Samantha Shirling holds the school record with two saves.  Gallaher has pitched in more games (66) and innings (271.2) that any other Gray Wolf while also striking out more than any other pitcher with 150.  Kostick is second in appearances and innings pitched along with strikeouts (123) while leading the program with five shutouts.  Shirling ranks fifth on the career strikeout list (79).

Among the Best Hitters: Taylor Genzman and Olivia Stanton both rank among the school's all-time batting lists.  Genzman is third with a .344 career average and is fourth in on base percentage at .375.  Stanton is sixth in average (.308) and fifth in slugging percentage (.438).  Genzman's 59 runs rank fifth while her 89 hits are seventh in program history.  She is also fourth with 21 steals.  Stanton is fourth with 20 doubles.

New Faces: Lourdes has six new faces on the roster in 2018.  Megan Motte has transferred to Lourdes from Macomb Community College while freshmen Sydnee Behlmer, Erin Manley, Shylee Schmeltz, Kim Waters, and Alyssa Ziegler are all set to make their collegiate debuts.

This and That: Marissa Kostick had a team-leading 4.65 ERA in 2017 and Taylor Genzman hit a team-high .368 ...Monday's game against Calumet with be the 200th in program history ... Lourdes is 23-36 all-time in neutral site games ... the Gray Wolves are 2-9 when playing extra innings.
