Lourdes began a six-game road trip on Wednesday afternoon, dropping both games of a doubleheader to Siena Heights by scores of 4-1 and 9-8 in 10 innings at Christensen Field in Adrian, Mich.

Siena Heights jumped in front in the opening inning of game one with a pair of runs, one of which was unearned, as the Gray Wolves walked two and committed two errors in the frame.

The Gray Wolves cut their deficit in half in the fourth as
Kim Waters (Belleville, Mich./Lincoln H.S.) led off the inning with a double. Two batters later,
Marissa Kostick (Saint Charles, Mich./Saint Charles H.S.) drove Waters home with a sacrifice fly.

The Saints responded with an unearned run in the fifth before loading the bases in the sixth, adding a fourth run on a wild pitch.

Lourdes managed just three hits in the opener against Racquel Ward, who went the distance for the win. She walked two and struck out one.Â
Brooke Gallaher (Oregon, Ohio/Clay H.S.) suffered the loss (5-9), despite surrendering just four hits in her complete game effort. Only two of the four runs were earned, but she walked six in the contest.

In game two, Lourdes struck quickly, plating three runs in the opening inning.Â
Taylor Genzman (Saint Clair Shores, Mich./Lakeview H.S.) and Waters led off with back-to-back singles. Genzman scored when Kostick hit a fly ball to right that was dropped.Â
Lindsay George (Wayne, Ohio/Elmwood H.S.) delivered a sacrifice fly to score the second run before a wild pitch brought home the third.

Siena Heights responded in the bottom of the first, batting around while scoring four times.Â

The Gray Wolves scored four of their own in the second, retaking the lead 7-4. Waters reached on a bases loaded infield single and Kostick followed with a sacrifice fly.Â
Alyssa Ziegler (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold H.S.) added a RBI groundout before George singled up the middle to score the final run of the inning.

The game remained a three-run Lourdes lead until the bottom of the seventh. Siena Heights scored three times, tying the game on a two-run home run by Ward with one out, forcing extra innings.

Lourdes finally broke through in the 10
th, as
Jimi McNew (Monroe, Mich./Monroe H.S.) doubled home George, who led off the inning with a single, putting the Gray Wolves on top 8-7.

Siena Heights (21-13, 13-7 WHAC) responded in the bottom of the inning, taking advantage of two Lourdes errors before Kris Forest delivered the game-winning double.

Ward earned the win (16-5) in the circle for the second straight game, allowing just one run on six hits over the final five innings. Kostick took the loss (6-6), going the distance allowing six earned runs on 13 hits.

Kostick had three hits at the plate, including a pair of doubles, while George added two more as part of the Gray Wolves' 12-hit attack in game two.

Lourdes (13-19, 5-9) continues its six-game road trip on Thursday afternoon, as the Gray Wolves travel to Livonia, Mich. to battle Madonna. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 3:30 p.m. at University Field.
