Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Lourdes Falls in Non-Conference Action at Walsh on Tuesday

Lourdes dropped its second consecutive game for the first time in 2018 on Tuesday afternoon, suffering a 19-4 setback to Walsh at Vasco Field in North Canton, Ohio.

The two schools traded free position goals in the first two minutes of the contest, with Alyssa Long's (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn H.S.) 44th goal of the season tying the game at one for the Gray Wolves with 28:12 to play in the opening half.

The Cavaliers responded just 18 seconds later, the first of seven unanswered goals in just over seven minutes to build an 8-1 lead, an advantage they would not relinquish the rest of the way.

Anna Zofchak (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover H.S.) and Shelby Kellar (Holland, Ohio/Saint Ursula Academy) scored back-to-back goals to pull the Gray Wolves within five, but that would be as close as Lourdes would get the rest of the way.

Walsh scored the final six goals of the first half and took a 14-3 lead into halftime.  The Cavaliers then scored the first five goals of the second half before Kellar scored her second goal of the game with two minutes remaining to close out the scoring.

The Cavaliers finished with a 36-13 shot advantage on the afternoon, including a 32-10 edge on goal, and also held a 16-9 edge in draw controls.  Walsh (6-3) also held a 21-11 ground ball advantage on the day.

Lane Brunkala led Walsh with six goals while Kendra Cowen-Tripp added five tallies.

Kiley Ketteman (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson H.S.) made 13 saves in goal for the Gray Wolves while Mikaela Faus made six stops for the Cavaliers.  Brandy Lowery (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg H.S.) and Margaret Janiga (East Aurora, N.Y./Nichols H.S.) led Lourdes with three ground balls each while Hannah Cullis (Fort Worth, Texas/Central H.S.) caused four turnovers.  Kellar had a team-high four draw controls.

Lourdes (6-4) looks to snap its losing skid on Saturday afternoon, when the Gray Wolves travel to Ann Arbor, Mich. to face Concordia (Mich.) in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action.  The opening draw is set for 1 p.m. at Cardinal Stadium.
