Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

O'Keefe Scores Game-Winner as Lourdes Drops Point Park 1-0

Junior Karlie O'Keefe (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview) scored the game-winner in the final minute of a 1-0 shutout as the Lourdes University women's soccer team defeated Point Park on Friday evening at Highmark Stadium.

The Gray Wolves improve to a perfect 2-0-0 on the year with the victory.

The first half of the contest proved to be a defensive battle as the two teams went into the intermission at a scoreless 0-0 tie.

After only attempting two shots in the first half, Lourdes was able to get its offense going, outshooting the host Pioneers by a 7-3 margin in the second half.

It took all 90 minutes to decide the contest before senior Alyssa Swanson (Canton, Mich./Plymouth) found O'Keefe for the game winner at the 89:55 mark of the contest to help lift Lourdes to the 1-0 victory.

"This was an exciting ending to a very physical game," said head coach Jackie Phillips. "Karlie kept her composure in the final seconds. That was a testament to the work her and this team put in daily. We will look to keep building off of this moving forward."

Junior Kiley Transit (Royal Oak, Mich./Royal Oak) led the way in the goal for the Gray Wolves, posting the second consecutive shutout for Lourdes while amassing seven saves.

Ashtyn Webb made six saves between the posts for Point Park (0-3) in the loss.

Lourdes will play the third of its four-game road trip to open the season on Sept. 5 as it travels to Bethel (Ind.) to take on the Pilots at 4 p.m.
