Lourdes Earns Draw on the Road at Bethel Wednesday

Lourdes continued its season-opening road trip on Wednesday afternoon, playing Bethel (Ind.) to a 1-1 double-overtime draw at Morey Field in Mishawaka, Ind.

The Pilots jumped in front just 47 seconds into the contest, as Kama Hardy headed home a cross from Nicole Fosnough.

The Gray Wolves answered at the 15:08 mark, as Karlie O'Keefe (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.) continued her stellar start to the season.  The junior broke free in the box, dribbled to the center, and fired a shot past goalkeeper Janae Willis for her fourth tally of the year.

The match stayed deadlocked into intermission, with Bethel holding an 8-4 shot advantage at the break.  The Pilots outshot Lourdes 7-3 over the second 45 minutes, but neither team would find the back of the net.  Lourdes accounted for the only shot in the first overtime while Bethel had three in the second extra session, but the match ended deadlocked despite the Pilots' 18-8 shot edge.

Kerstyn Williams (Taylor, Mich./Woodhaven H.S.) turned aside five Bethel attempts in the first half while Kiley Transit (Royal Oak, Mich./Royal Oak H.S.) entered at intermission and made six saves over the final 65 minutes.

Janae Willis made three first half saves for Bethel (2-0-2) while Tessa Zimmerly made two stops over the final 65 minutes for the Pilots.

Bethel had an 11-3 edge in corner kick opportunities as well.

Lourdes (2-0-1) will look to close out the four-match road trip unbeaten on Saturday afternoon, traveling to Upland, Ind. to battle Taylor.  Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Turner Stadium.
