Lourdes Upended by Aquinas 79-58 on the Road

The Gray Wolf women's basketball team saw its two-game win streak stopped on Saturday afternoon as it fell 79-58 on the road at Aquinas.
 
Lourdes fell in an early hole after getting outscored 24-12 in the first quarter. While trailing 10-4 early in the first quarter, LaTyrah Beasley (Toledo, Ohio/Bowsher) hit a jumper to cut the lead to 10-6. From there Aquinas (15-6, 8-3 WHAC) used a 12-0 run to take a 22-6 lead with 1:58 left in the opening period.
 
Riley Raburn (Horton, Mich./Lumen Christi) nailed a three-pointer to stop the Saints run and spark a 6-2 run capped by a Mirandia Green (Toledo, Ohio/Whitmer) to help Lourdes pull within 24-12.
 
After Ramiah Henry (Toledo, Ohio/Waite) hit a jumper early in the second quarter to help Lourdes pull within 27-16, Aquinas used a 15-2 run to take a commanding 42-18 lead in the first half.
 
Aquinas saw its biggest lead of the contest come at the 9:31 mark of the fourth quarter as the hosts opened a 65-38 lead following a 4-0 run to open the quarter.
 
The Gray Wolves found their footing in the final quarter, outscoring the Saints 20-18. The Lourdes bench was solid once again in the contest, outscoring its counterpart by a 23-21 margin.
 
Henry paced Lourdes offensively with 11 points, while Raburn chipped in nine points. Beasley pulled down a team-best six rebounds, while Christiana Jefferson (Toledo, Ohio/Notre Dame) dished out four assists.
 
Lourdes finished 22-of-60 (36.7%) from the field and hit five three-point field goals. Lourdes also finished a perfect 9-of-9 from the free throw line. Aquinas was 27-of-55 (49.1%) from the field, while also connecting on five three-point field goals.
 
The Gray Wolves (7-11, 3-8 WHAC) return home on Monday evening at 7 p.m. after a three-game road trip and hosts Wilberforce inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
