No. 3 Gray Wolves Sweep Robert Morris Saturday

Lourdes completed a perfect weekend on Saturday afternoon, with a 25-20, 25-18, 25-11 sweep of Robert Morris (Ill.) in the final match of the Gray Wolf Classic held inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
 
The third-ranked Gray Wolves hit .424 for the match, putting down 39 kills over the three sets.  Lourdes also outblocked the Eagles 23-14 for the match.
 
"It was nice to finish the weekend with a 3-0 sweep," head coach Greg Reitz said afterwards.  "We had the chance to play a lot of guys, and I thought that we played at a high level the entire match.  We were strong both offensively and defensively."
 
After falling behind 5-0 to start the match, Lourdes slowly battled back in the opening set.  A 4-0 run midway through put Lourdes on top for the first time 16-15.  With the set tied at 19, the Gray Wolves scored the next five points to take the early lead in the match.
 
The Gray Wolves fell behind 4-0 in set two, but answered with a 12-2 run to take the lead for good.  In the third set, Lourdes hit a blistering .647 with 12 kills on just 17 swing while limiting Robert Morris to five kills and a -.143 hitting percentage. 
 
Evan Gebert (Fort Wayne, Ind./Snider H.S.) led Lourdes with 17 kills and hit .625 while Henrique Gehrke (Blumenau, Brazil/Escola Barao Do Rio Branco H.S.) handed out 37 assists.  Gehrke also had a team-high five digs and added three blocks.
 
Manny Andrade led Robert Morris (1-4) with 11 kills and hit .400 as the Eagle swung at a .103 clip for the match as a team.
 
Lourdes (4-0) begins a six-match road trip on Wednesday evening, traveling to Cincinnati, Ohio to face Cincinnati Christian.  Opening serve is set for 7 p.m. at Jill Rendel Court.
