Lawrence Tech Spoils Senior Day for Lourdes Women’s Soccer

Lourdes honored the four members of its 2019 senior class on Saturday afternoon, but Lawrence Tech spoiled the celebration, defeating the Gray Wolves 5-0 at Wildcat Stadium.

Prior to the match, the Gray Wolves recognized Kenzie Cowell (Niles, Ohio/McKinley H.S.), Abby Miller (Columbus, Ohio/Olentangy H.S.), Karlie O'Keefe (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.), and Lauren Poslaiko (Woodhaven, Mich./Carlson H.S.) for their contributions to the program for the past few seasons.

When the match kicked off it was the Blue Devils taking control.  DiOnna Hill recorded a hat trick and Lawrence Tech outshot Lourdes 23-4 for the match, including 16-1 on goal.  The visitors also had a 7-2 edge in corner kick opportunities.

Hill started the scoring in the 28th minute, heading in a cross from Rebekah Holbrook at the far post.  The duo connected again 10 minutes later as Hill collected the cross in the middle of the box and fired to put Lawrence Tech in front 2-0 at halftime.

The Blue Devils doubled their lead with a pair of goals in the first three minutes of the second half.  Hill completed her hat trick just 21 seconds out of the break as Dahlia Jerovsek played a ball ahead to the top corner of the box where she fired into the back of the net.  At the 47:52 mark Katelyn Mather created a turnover deep in the Gray Wolf end and headed the ball into the goal.

Lourdes was held without a shot until 60 minutes into the contest when Abigail Mann (Toledo, Ohio/Southview H.S.) was able to get one off, but Renee Anderson turned it aside.

Sidney McClay closed out the scoring for Lawrence Tech (10-5, 6-3 WHAC) scoring from just outside the six with 25:03 to play as Jerovsek picked up another assist.

Kerstyn Williams (Taylor, Mich./Woodhaven H.S.) made 11 saves between the posts for the Gray Wolves in the setback.

Lourdes (8-7, 4-5) will take to the road for the final time in the 2019 regular season on Wednesday afternoon as the Gray Wolves travel to Ann Arbor, Mich. to face Concordia (Mich.).  Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Cardinal Stadium.
