Lourdes wrapped up its weekend trip in Grand Rapids, Mich. on Saturday afternoon, suffering a 25-22, 25-18, 25-12 defeat to Aquinas inside the Sturrus Sports & Fitness Center.
 
The Gray Wolves were held to just .070 hitting on the afternoon while Aquinas swung at a .308 clip and the Saints outdug Lourdes 43-31.
 
"We did not compete as hard as we did last night," head coach Greg Reitz said afterwards.  "Our serving was not tough and we couldn't find rhythm with our offense.  We have to train to be better before we compete again."
 
Lourdes trailed by three late in the opening set, but used a 4-0 run to build a 22-21 lead.  The Saints responded though, scoring four straight points of their own to take the lead in the match.  Aquinas raced out to a 12-3 lead in set two and never allowed Lourdes to get any closer than four the rest of the stanza.  The hosts went on a pair of 6-0 runs in the third set on the way to completing the sweep.
 
Allie Hale (Holland, Ohio/Springfield H.S.) led Lourdes with nine kills while Kylee McBride (Peoria, Ariz./Mountain Ridge H.S.) added eight more.  Yasmin Assis (Salto, Brazil/Antonio Alves Aranha H.S.) handed out 24 assists while Alli Plasencio (Toledo, Ohio/Central Catholic H.S.) tallied a team-high 13 digs.  Elise Sanford (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg H.S.) had five blocks for the Gray Wolves.
 
Jackie Rozell led Aquinas (9-9, 6-3 WHAC) with 12 kills while Karly Morris had a team-high 10 digs for the Saints.
 
Lourdes (8-9, 5-4) will return home to the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves host Northwestern Ohio.  First serve is set for 7 p.m.
