Lourdes tied the school record with its fourth consecutive victory as well as with its eighth win of the season on Wednesday evening, as the Gray Wolves defeated Cleary 2-1 at Lake Trust Stadium in Howell, Mich.
The four-match winning streak is the Gray Wolves' second such streak this season, and third in program history. Lourdes eight wins have matched the previous mark set in both 2015 and 2017.
Jayla Musselman (Oregon, Ohio/Clay H.S.) put the Gray Wolves on the scoreboard in the 21
st minute. The freshman scored her first collegiate goal as her corner kick deflected off a Cougar defender, giving Lourdes the 1-0 lead it would carry into halftime.
Abigail Mann (Toledo, Ohio/Southview H.S.) added what proved to be an important insurance goal just 5:51 out of the break. She converted a free kick from outside the box for her team-leading fifth goal of the season.
Cleary (4-6, 1-3 WHAC) broke up the shutout with just 3:18 to play in the match, as Sophia Coelho found the back of the net.
Lourdes outshot the Cougars 16-11 for the match, with both sides registering six shots on net.
Kerstyn Williams (Taylor, Mich./Woodhaven H.S.) made five saves in goal for the Gray Wolves while Kara Donaldson made four stops for Cleary.
Lourdes (8-3, 4-1) will look for its fifth straight victory on Saturday afternoon, as the Gray Wolves host Aquinas. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium.
