Lourdes committed just five attack errors the entire evening on Wednesday on the way to upending second-seeded Aquinas 25-22, 25-21, 25-22 inside the Sturrus Sports & Fitness Center in Grand Rapids, Mich. in the quarterfinals of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament.
 
"This was a great win for our team and this program," head coach Greg Reitz said after the match.  "I'm very proud of the effort put forth by the entire group to get us here."
 
The seventh-seeded Gray Wolves hit .379 as a team with 44 kills as Sarah Wisser (Schoolcraft, Mich./Schoolcraft H.S.) handed out 41 assists in the road victory.  Emily Drenth (Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South H.S.) led the way with 16 kills and hit .382 while Kylee McBride (Peoria, Ariz./Mountain Ridge H.S.) added 12 more kills to go along with 10 digs for a double-double.  Allie Hale (Holland, Ohio/Springfield H.S.) hit .500 with 11 kills.
 
Defensively, Alli Plasencio (Toledo, Ohio/Central Catholic H.S.) registered a match-high 17 digs as the Gray Wolves finished with a 50-46 advantage in that category as well.
 
The opening set was tight throughout, with 11 ties and six lead changes.  The Gray Wolves trailed 19-18 before scoring four of the next five points to take the lead for good, helping Lourdes take the early lead in the match.
 
Lourdes did not commit an attack error in the second set, hitting .419 as a team, while building a 2-0 advantage in the contest.  The Gray Wolves jumped out to a 10-3 lead and withstood a late run by the Saints to secure the win.
 
The Gray Wolves trailed 9-5 in the third before battling back to take the lead for the final time at 19-18.  Lourdes put down a match-high 16 kills in the stanza while hitting .382 to secure the sweep after dropping both regular season matches against the Saints.
 
Jackie Rozell led Aquinas (17-13) with 16 kills while Karly Morris had a team-high 10 digs.  The Saints hit .254 for the match themselves.
 
Lourdes (14-15) advances to Friday's semifinals, where the Gray Wolves will battle third-seeded Madonna.  The match is slated to begin at 5 p.m. inside of Ridler Fieldhouse in Southfield, Mich. on the campus of Lawrence Tech.  The winner of the Lourdes-Madonna semifinal will advance to Saturday's championship match against the winner of Lawrence Tech and Indiana Tech.  That match will also be played in Southfield.
