The Lourdes baseball team dropped a pair of games on Friday afternoon and evening as it was edged by Buena Vista and Bethesda at the Kino Sports Complex Stadium.

In the first contest, Lourdes got off to a hot start scoring six runs in the top of the sixth inning.

George Pastor (Walled Lake, Mich./Central) and
Michael Davis (Whittier, Cal./California) each scored in the first inning bases loaded walks to get the scoring barrage started in the first inning.

After Lourdes added another pair of runs,
Jay Denman (Toledo, Ohio/Saint Francis de Sales) hit a double down the left field line to score two more runs and extend the lead to 6-0.

Buena Vista (4-4 overall) wasted no time getting back into the game, as it evened the contest at 6-all after the bottom half of the first inning.

Lourdes scored the next four runs as
Brandon Horman (Oregon, Ohio/Saint John's Jesuit) and
Corey Righman (Ashville, Ohio/Teays Valley) scored in the third inning and Pastor and Davis added two more in the fifth inning to give Lourdes a 10-6 lead.

The Beavers rallied over the next four innings to claim the 11-10 victory.

Davis led the way for Lourdes in game one, going 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Denman and
Cameron Gallo (Mason, Ohio/Bishop Fenwick) each added a pair of hits.

The second contest began with a defensive battle as neither team scored in the first two innings. Bethesda (10-11 overall) got on the board first in the top half of the third inning, scoring two runs to take a 2-0 lead.

Braden Halford (Port Hope, Ont./Saint Mary's) helped Lourdes even the score at 2-2 after hitting a two-RBI double down the left field line in the seventh inning.

Bethesda was able to score three runs over the next two innings, regaining a 5-2 lead, but Lourdes made a small rally late.

Lourdes was able to score a pair of runs in the bottom of the ninth inning, but couldn't get any closer as Bethesda claimed the 5-4 victory.
Zach Brown (Oregon, Ohio/Clay) went eight innings and fanned four batters.

The Gray Wolves return to action tomorrow as they face Bethesda again for their final contest in Tucson, Ariz. before returning home.
