Upcoming in Gray Wolves Softball: Lourdes opens the home portion of the 2019 schedule this week with an eight-game homestand, including six games in four days, beginning with a doubleheader against Concordia (Mich.) on Wednesday. The Gray Wolves then host twinbills against Cornerstone and Aquinas on Friday and Saturday respectively.
Head Coach Jo Ann Gordon: In her seventh season on the Lourdes bench,
Jo Ann Gordon has a 86-162 (.347) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves. In her 16th season overall as a head softball coach, Gordon has a 238-450 (.346) career mark. She is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Concordia (Mich.) leads the all-time series with Lourdes 10-5 dating back to April 17, 2013, including a 5-3 edge at Pacesetter Park. Last season the Cardinals swept a pair of games, 5-4 in eight innings and 8-5, in Ann Arbor. Lourdes holds an 8-6 all-time advantage against Cornerstone dating back to March 4, 2013, and has won five straight in the series. Last year the Gray Wolves were 6-5 victors in 10 innings and 11-7 winners in Grand Rapids, Mich. Lourdes is 4-3 against Cornerstone at Pacesetter Park. Aquinas holds an 8-5 series edge against the Gray Wolves dating back to April 26, 2013. Last year the two teams split a twinbill at Pacesetter Park, with the Saints winning the opener 6-3 before Lourdes won game two 3-1. The series is even 3-3 all-time at Pacesetter Park.

Shylee Schmeltz had two hits in the opener while
Olivia Stanton had two hits in game two. Weekend doubleheaders at Rochester (Mich.) and Cleary were postponed due to inclement weather.
Scouting Concordia (Mich.): The Cardinals enter the week having dropped a doubleheader to Siena Heights last Wednesday 10-2 and 3-2. Concordia hosts Rochester (Mich.) on Tuesday before heading to Lourdes. Carly Pearson leads Concordia batting .394 while Kali Hill has a team high 13 runs batted in. As an offense, the Cardinals are hitting .305. The Concordia pitching staff sports a 3.19 earned run average, led by Melanie Richardson, who is 4-0 with a 0.83 earned run average in 25.1 innings of work.
Scouting Cornerstone: The Golden Eagles enter the week having lost five straight following a sweep by Northwestern Ohio 14-12 and 14-8 on Saturday. Cornerstone hosts Aquinas on Wednesday before visiting Lourdes. McKena Razenberg leads the Golden Eagles batting .354 with 12 runs batted in on the season for an offense hitting .287 overall. The pitching staff sports a 5.83 earned run average, paced by Ashley Loera's 3-2 record and 3.12 ERA.
Scouting Aquinas: The Saints begin the week having been idle since a March 23 split at Indiana-South Bend, winning 10-1 before falling 7-3. Aquinas hosts Indiana Tech and travels to Cornerstone before visiting Lourdes. Brooke Wila leads Aquinas with a .493 batting average, four home runs, and 16 runs batted in while Briana Mairose has 27 RBI. As a team, the Saints are hitting .306 while the pitching staff sports a 3.36 ERA. Mia Loya is 3-0 with a team-low 2.25 ERA.
Lourdes In Home Openers: Lourdes is 1-5 all-time in its home openers, with the Gray Wolves' lone victory coming on April 5, 2014, a 2-1 triumph over Northwestern Ohio to begin the Pacesetter Park portion of the schedule. Lourdes has dropped four straight home openers, including an 11-3 setback to 18th-ranked Saint Francis (Ill.) to begin the home slate in 2018.
Going Deep: Marissa Kostick hit her third home run of the season, high off the foul pole, at Michigan-Dearborn. The senior now has 11 career round-trippers, third most in program history. She is one home run away this season from fourth place on the single season charts.
Streaking: Marissa Kostick has hit safely in each of her last five games, the longest hitting streak of the year for a Gray Wolf hitter.
Olivia Stanton had reached base in nine consecutive contests prior to game one of the doubleheader at Michigan-Dearborn. The fifth-year senior rebounded in game two with a pair of hits to begin a new streak.
Schmeltz Bat Heats Up: Shylee Schmeltz had her first multi-hit game of the season in the opener against Michigan-Dearborn last Wednesday before driving in her first run of the year in the nightcap.
Swiping Bases: Allie Teeple is a perfect 7-for-7 on the base paths in stolen base attempts for the Gray Wolves this season. As a team, Lourdes is 14-of-15 overall in the first 14 games of the year.
Looking to Limit the Miscues: Lourdes allowed 17 runs in the doubleheader against Michigan-Dearborn, however only of the eight of the runs were earned as the Gray Wolf defense combined to commit eight errors in the two games. On the year Lourdes is fielding at just a .929 clip, committing 30 miscues which have led to 27 total unearned runs.
This and That: Alexis Nowowiecki made her Lourdes debut in the circle against Michigan-Dearborn in game one of the twinbill ... Lourdes is 36-52 all-time at Pacesetter Park ...
