Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Late Rally Comes Up Short for Lourdes at No. 3 Indiana Tech

Lourdes scored three times in a minute span late in the fourth quarter on Saturday, but was unable to complete the comeback as the Gray Wolves fell 9-6 to third-ranked Indiana Tech at Warrior Athletic Field in Fort Wayne, Ind.

The Gray Wolves started quickly against one of the nation's best, as Nick Johnson (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg H.S.) found the back of the net just over three minutes into the contest.  With the game tied at one late in the first, Drew Gilhooly (Livonia, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central H.S.) scored, against putting Lourdes in front.  Indiana Tech netted a late tally at the end of the first though, and the teams were deadlocked 2-2 after 15 minutes.

The Warriors scored the first three goals of the second period before Chad Causley (Clinton Township, Mich./L'Anse Creuse H.S.) scored to pull Lourdes within two, 5-3, at intermission.

Indiana Tech (11-2, 5-1 WHAC) scored the only three goals of the third quarter, and added another early in the fourth to build at 9-3 advantage before the late comeback attempt from Lourdes.

Causley scored on the man-up with 3:02 to play to begin the rally before Clay Hall (Great Mills, Md./Saint Mary's Ryken H.S.) followed just 14 seconds later with his third goal of the year.  Johnson added his second tally of the game with 2:06 to play to pull the Gray Wolves within three, but that was as close as Lourdes would get.

Indiana Tech outshot Lourdes on the evening 43-24, including a 25-14 advantage on cage.  Chris Douds (Stow, Ohio/Stow-Munroe Falls H.S.) made 16 saves for the Gray Wolves in his first career start for the Gray Wolves while Evan Schuster made eight stops for the Warriors.

Lourdes (6-5, 2-4) will return home to Wildcat Stadium for the final time this season on Wednesday evening, as the Gray Wolves host second-ranked Madonna.  The opening faceoff is set for 6 p.m. with Senior Day activities taking place prior to the game.
