Lourdes saw its 2019 season come to an end on Tuesday night, as the Gray Wolves suffered a 17-10 loss to 10
th-ranked Siena Heights in the opening round of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament held at O'Laughlin Stadium in Adrian, Mich.

"I thought we played hard throughout the game tonight," head coach
Alyssa Shaver said afterwards. "Unfortunately, we were short-handed tonight and the lack of depth proved to be a factor."

The first 12 minutes of the game went back-and-forth, with the fifth-seeded Gray Wolves taking a 4-3 lead on
Hannah Merrick's (South Lyon, Mich./East H.S.) second goal in a two-minute span.Â

Siena Heights, the tournament's fourth seed, responded with five goals in less than four minutes to take the lead for good before
Bella D'Arcy (Hartland, Mich./Hartland H.S.) scored her third goal of the half to stop the run. Merrick added another tally before halftime while
Brianna Nantz (Brighton, Mich./Brighton H.S.) scored just before halftime to pull the Gray Wolves within four, 11-7, at intermission.

Anna Zofchak (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover H.S.) cut the deficit to three with the first goal out of the break. The Saints responded with a pair of goals to push the lead back to five before
Ashley Hunt (Cape May, N.J./Lower Cape May H.S.) made it a 13-9 game with 14:42 to play.
