Upcoming in Gray Wolves Softball: Lourdes closes out the 2019 season this week with a pair of home doubleheaders sandwiched around the Gray Wolves' final road trip of the year. Â Lourdes hosts Madonna on Thursday before closing out Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play at Indiana Tech on Friday. Â The regular season will conclude Sunday at home against Cardinal Stritch.
Head Coach Jo Ann Gordon: In her seventh season on the Lourdes bench,
Jo Ann Gordon has a 88-176 (.333) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves. Â In her 16th season overall as a head softball coach, Gordon has a 240-464 (.341) career mark. Â She is the only head coach in Lourdes program's history.
Series Notes: Madonna holds a 13-1 series edge dating back to April 14, 2013. Â Last year the Crusaders won both games of the doubleheader, 4-0 and 11-3, in Livonia, Mich. Â Madonna is 6-1 all-time against Lourdes at Pacesetter Park. Â Lourdes leads the series against Indiana Tech 7-5 dating back to April 23, 2013. Â Last year, the Warriors won a pair of games at Pacesetter Park. Â Lourdes is 4-0 all-time in Fort Wayne, Ind. Â Cardinal Stritch is 2-1 all-time against the Gray Wolves dating back to March 6, 2017. Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes dropped a doubleheader last Tuesday (April 16) at Cleary, falling 8-0 and 10-2. Â After weather forced several postponements during the week, the Gray Wolves returned to the diamond on Monday at Lawrence Tech. Â The Blue Devils took the opener 4-1 before scoring two in the bottom of the sixth of game two to win the nightcap 5-3.
Scouting Madonna: The Crusaders enter the week having won four straight after finishing a suspended game against Concordia (Mich.) on Monday evening with a 3-2 victory. Â Madonna visits Siena Heights on Wednesday before facing Lourdes. Â Kattie Popko is batting a team-high .461 with four homers and 31 RBI to pace an offense hitting .337 overall. Â Madisen Henry leads the pitching staff with a 2.30 ERA and a 10-7 record, as Crusader hurlers have a 2.97 ERA overall.Â
Scouting Indiana Tech: The Warriors enter the week having won five consecutive games after defeating Concordia (Mich.) 9-3 on Tuesday in a resumption of a suspended game. Â Indiana Tech hosts Huntington on Wednesday before entertaining Lourdes. Â Brianna Glass leads the Warriors batting .447 on the season for an offense hitting .303 overall. Â In the circle, Jaden Romero sports a 2.39 earned run average to lead a pitching staff that has a 4.59 ERA overall.
Scouting Cardinal Stritch: The Wolves enter the week having swept a doubleheader against Trinity Christian on Tuesday to move back to the .500 mark overall on the season. Â Cardinal Stritch hosts Indiana-South Bend on Friday before visiting Lourdes. Â Lauren Stoch leads the team hitting .425 overall with three home runs and 28 RBI for an offense batting .269 as a team. Â Fatime Sino leads the pitchers with a 13-7 record and a 3.35 earned run average for a staff with a 3.46 ERA.
Thanks Seniors (Try Two): After inclement weather forced the postponement of Lourdes' scheduled Senior Day last Saturday, the Gray Wolves will once again try to honor the four senior members of its program prior to Thursday's doubleheader with Madonna. Â

Making a Run at the School Mark: Marissa Kostick enters the week batting .398 during her senior season, the second best single season average in program history. Â The only previous Gray Wolf to hit better than .400 in a season (minimum 50 at bats) was
Alyssa Schaub, who hit .426 in 2015.
Going Deep: Marissa Kostick homered in both games of the doubleheader at Lawrence Tech on Monday, giving her six round-trippers on the season, tied for most in program history for a single season. Â She now has 14 career home runs, second most in program history.
Fielding Her Position: Tiana Card has been stellar defensively for the Gray Wolves this season, both fielding her position in the circle and at first base. Â Having faced 111 total chances, third most on the squad, she has yet to commit an error in the field.
Newcomers Chip in Offensively: A pair of transfers have helped the Lourdes offense this season. Â
Allie Teeple is second on the squad batting .333 while
Kayla Gauthier is third on the team with a .327 average. Â Gauthier is also second on the Lourdes roster with 11 runs batted in while Teeple leads the team with seven stolen bases.
This and That: Marissa Kostick,
Shylee Schmeltz, and
Alyssa Ziegler have started every game this season ... the Gray Wolves have scored 25 of their 91 runs this season in the first inning ...
Olivia Stanton has drawn a team-leading 12 walks this year ... Ziegler has a team-leading six sacrifice bunts.
