Lourdes honored its four members of its senior class between games of its doubleheader against Madonna on Thursday evening, while falling to the Crusaders 3-1 and 7-5 at Pacesetter Park.

Taylor Genzman (Saint Clair Shores, Mich./Lakeview H.S.),
Marissa Kostick (Saint Charles, Mich./Saint Charles H.S.),
Jimi McNew (Monroe, Mich./Monroe H.S.), and
Olivia Stanton (Loveland, Ohio/Loveland H.S.) were honored for their contributions to the program over the past few years.

The Gray Wolves scored first in the opener, taking advantage of a pair of Madonna errors in the first inning.Â
Kayla Gauthier (Linwood, Mich./Pinconning H.S.) reached on a fielder's choice and Kostick scored when the throw to third was wild.

Madonna evened the game at one with an unearned run of its own in the third. A lead-off double followed by a single in the sixth put the Crusaders in front before the visitors added an insurance run in the seventh.

Lourdes tallied six hits in the opener, with Stanton coming off the bench to tally two of them.

Kostick went the distance in the circle, scattering six hits and allowing just two earned runs while striking out three. Madisen Henry earned the complete game win for Madonna, fanning five.

Madonna (32-12, 16-4 WHAC) struck first in game two, plating an unearned run in the top of the first before adding three more runs in the fifth.

Lourdes broke through in the bottom of the fifth as Stanton and
Alexis Nowowiecki (Saint Clair Shores, Mich./Lakeview H.S.) each delivered RBI singles.

After the Crusaders responded with a pair of runs in the sixth, Lourdes plated three more in the bottom of the frame.Â
Morghan Russell (Mansfield, Ohio/Madison H.S.),
Allie Teeple (Gibsonburg, Ohio/Gibsonburg H.S.), and
Alyssa Ziegler (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold H.S.) led off the inning with three straight singles before Genzman drew a bases loaded walk. A wild pitch scored Teeple with the second run of the inning before
Kim Waters (Belleville, Mich./Lincoln H.S.) grounded out to score another run, making it a 6-5 game.

The Crusaders added an insurance run in the seventh to close out the scoring.

Nowowiecki went 4-for-4 for the Gray Wolves at the plate in game two while Kostick and Russell each added two hits as part of a 12-hit attack.

Henry earned her second win of the day in the circle for Madonna, working four innings while allowing a run and five hits and Ciera Jones tossed the final three frames for the save.Â
Tiana Card (Brook Park, Ohio/Berea-Midpark H.S.) suffered the loss, yielding four runs and six hits in 4.1 innings of work.

Lourdes (6-26, 2-18) will close out Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Friday afternoon, traveling to Fort Wayne, Ind. to face Indiana Tech. First pitch in game one of the doubleheader is set for 4 p.m. at Warrior Park.
