Lourdes opened the 2019 soccer season on Saturday evening in front of a strong crowd at Wildcat Stadium, but Taylor spoiled the festivities with a 4-1 victory over the Gray Wolves.

The Trojans struck quickly just over two minutes into the match. After a series of three consecutive corner kicks, Erin Teevans connected with Riley Massey in the box, and the header found the back of the goal.

Lourdes quickly responded to even the match in the eighth minute.Â
Maria Schmidt (Rockton, Ill./Boylan Catholic H.S.) sent a long feed into the six from the right corner and
Katie Varney (Brownstown, Mich./Woodhaven H.S.) was able to finish for her first goal as a Gray Wolf.

The match remained deadlocked 1-1 at halftime, despite a 13-5 shot advantage from Taylor as
Kerstyn Williams (Taylor, Mich./Woodhaven H.S.) made five first half saves.

Ali Clodgo put Taylor (2-0) in front for good in the 57
th minute.Â
Hannah Martinez added the Trojans' third goal with just under 19 minutes remaining in the contest before Linli Tu concluded the scoring three minutes later.

Taylor finished the contest with a 31-9 shot advantage. Williams finished with eight saves in goal for the Gray Wolves while Megan Williams and Lauren Cammarano each made two saves for the Trojans while splitting time in net.

Lourdes (0-1) will continue its four-match homestand on Friday evening (Aug. 30) as the Gray Wolves host Point Park. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
