Lourdes closed out play at the GoSarpy.com Labor Day Classic on Saturday morning, suffering a 25-21, 25-21, 25-10 setback to Evangel inside the Lied Activity Center in Bellevue, Neb.

"This was another tough learning experience for this group," head coach
Greg Reitz said. "We did some good things, but continued to make too many errors to give ourselves a chance to win. We can improve dramatically as long as we learn from the experiences gained this weekend."

The Gray Wolves started strong, and led 17-13 in the opening set, before the Crusaders scored six unanswered points to take the lead for good. Evangel jumped out to a 13-6 lead in the second before Lourdes made a late rally, closing to within three, 24-21, but the Crusaders were able to close out the stanza. Evangel ran out to a 10-1 lead in the third and held the Gray Wolves to -.081 hitting in the set to complete the sweep.

Kylee McBride (Peoria, Ariz./Mountain Ridge H.S.) led Lourdes with 12 kills on the day while
Kailey Holm (Anthem, Ariz./Boulder Creek H.S.) had a team-high 10 digs.Â
Elise Sanford (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg H.S.) registered six blocks, including three of the solo variety.

Bridget Petersen led Evangel (9-2) with 10 kills and hit .435 while Eryn Russell had 19 digs defensively.

Lourdes (0-4) will return home on Friday to host the Gray Wolf Invitational. Lourdes will face Shawnee State at 12:30 p.m. and Grace at 8 p.m. inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
