Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Lourdes Wins Fourth Straight Blanking Huntington

Lourdes matched its longest winning streak in program history on Wednesday afternoon, as the Gray Wolves shutout Huntington 1-0 on a warm afternoon at King Stadium in Huntington, Ind.

The victory is the fourth in a row for Lourdes, matching the mark set from Sept. 13-23.

"This wasn't one of our sharper games, but it was great to see the fight and desire to find a way to win on the road," head coach Jackie Phillips said after the match.  "The girls continue to step up to the conditions."

The two sides played a scoreless opening 45 minutes, with the host Foresters holding a slim 5-4 advantage in total shots at the break.

Lourdes found the scoreboard through less than two minutes into the second half.  Abigail Mann (Toledo, Ohio/Southview H.S.) played a ball to Karlie O'Keefe (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.), who took on a defender and slotted the ball past goalkeeper Maddy Moan.  The goal was the second of the season for O'Keefe, who set the school's career scoring record with the 14th of her career, breaking the tie with Clare Ciarlino (2016-2017).  Mann picked up her first collegiate assist, and took over the team lead with five total points on the year.

Kerstyn Williams (Taylor, Mich./Woodhaven H.S.) made the one goal stand up, as she made seven saves in goal to earn her third shutout of the season and fifth career clean sheet.  Moan made four stops in net for the Foresters.

Huntington (3-4) outshot Lourdes 14-10 for the match, including 8-7 on goal, and had five of the six corner kick opportunities in the contest, but was unable to find the back of the net over the 90 minutes.

Lourdes (4-1), off to the best five-match start in program history, closes out non-conference action next Wednesday, Sept. 18, as the Gray Wolves travel to Circleville, Ohio to face Ohio Christian.  Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. at the Soccer Complex.
