Lourdes closed out the weekend with its second consecutive sweep on Saturday afternoon, as the Gray Wolves defeated Concordia (Mich.) 25-14, 25-18, 25-17 inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.

The Gray Wolves limited the Cardinals to a negative hitting percentage (-.010) for the match, outblocked Concordia 12-7, and registered nine service aces without surrendering one defensively.

"I thought our defense was pretty strong again today," head coach Greg Reitz said following the match.  "We served a better match and put pressure on their serve receive.  I also thought we did a good job of passing today."

After falling behind 10-6 in the opening set, the Gray Wolves scored 11 consecutive points behind the serve of Yasmin Assis (Salto, Brazil/Antonio Alves Aranha H.S.), including three aces to take control of the match.  Leading 15-12 in the second set, Lourdes scored six of the next seven points to pull away on the way to building a 2-0 advantage.  In the third, Lourdes went on a late 8-2 run on the way to completing the sweep.

Kylee McBride (Peoria, Ariz./Mountain Ridge H.S.) tallied a match-high 10 kills while Elise Sanford (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg H.S.) hit .455 with five kills on 11 swings.  Assis handed out 25 assists while serving up four aces.

Defensively, Alli Plasencio (Toledo, Ohio/Central Catholic H.S.) recorded 13 digs while Rafa Borges (Uberlandia, Brazil/CESEC H.S.) added six blocks in just two sets of action.

Gabrielle den Boer led Concordia (4-6, 1-3 WHAC) with nine kills while Tara Schatzle had a match-high 15 digs.

Lourdes (5-6, 2-2) will close out its four-match homestand on Wednesday evening as the Gray Wolves host Madonna.  First serve is set for 7 p.m. inside the Ebeid Rec Center.
